It all sounds a little bit confused. On the one hand Google say that they will give a penalty weighting to pages which don't validate, and they say they will give a penalty to pages which are not amp (which cannot validate).

Will the penalty for having a page which won't validate be smaller or larger than the penalty for having a non-amp valid page? Highly amusing

In the ACP /user/online has a search field, what do I need to search on to see everyone on a particular profile?

I get no results when I search for a location, eg /users/online gives an unstyled 404 page:

When I do get results eg Steve, I lose the modules/skins ACP sidebar.

This isn't related to the maps module as there has never been anything in the module to allow you to upload map ata to google. Perhaps you signed up for the Maps Engine service for something completely separate to Jamroom?

Images larger than 1280

More involved than allowing for a larger sized image, but I think something like this might be a good solution to the different device sizes and image sizes that will be needed:

But that isn't there yet, so there are several javascript solutions which temporarily fill that gap:
