Genosis - Core

Genosis Core module changelog Version 2.0.0b1: - New: Kinship engine rebuilt to handle cousin and in-law relationship display - New: "Lifespan" added as a sorting option when viewing all ancestor profiles - New: "Show BCE Checkbox" Global Config setting (off by default, as before) to show the BCE checkbox on date fields - New: "Mapping Provider" Global Config tab: OpenStreetMap (default, local place names), Esri Street Map (English place names) or a custom map tile URL and credit, plus the place lookup server - used by event maps and the Time Map - New: Places: each distinct event location is looked up once with OpenStreetMap Nominatim in the background (one lookup per second) and saved; the Places tool shows what was and wasn't found, looks a place up under another name, or sets its position by dragging a pin - Change: Merging a tree into another tree now removes the emptied tree - Change: "New tree from this ancestor" and "Move person" now move the sources cited only by the moved people's events - a source also cited by someone who stays remains in the old tree - Change: The BCE checkbox on a new person's dates is no longer pre-checked from the related person's death date - Change: Public View Cutoff uses one rule everywhere (profile pages, lists, images, descendants): a person is public if born before the cutoff, or - with no birth date - died before it - Change: GEDCOM export "privatize living" uses the same rule (with its own 100 year cutoff), so it also privatizes people with no dates and people born after the cutoff - Change: GEDCOM export header now says GEDCOM 5.5.1, the version that allows UTF-8 - Change: GEDCOM import makes the tree it imports to the active tree, since relationships are created in the active tree - Change: With no person selected, the Ancestor Chart for logged in users starts with the most recently born person in the tree (it was effectively random), cached per tree - Change: File downloads and streams on a person's profile follow the profile page rules (Public View Cutoff, researcher-only trees) - Change: Stories in GEDCOM exports are a NOTE on the person (title, plain text, story source URL) marked with a Genosis "_GENSTORY" tag, so other programs show them as notes - and are exported whether or not "media" is selected - Change: The person's note (bio) in GEDCOM exports is plain text with its paragraphs, like the stories - Change: Research notes in GEDCOM exports are their own NOTEs, marked with a Genosis "_GENRESEARCH" tag (with the note date), instead of being added to the person's note - a Genosis import restores them as research notes - Change: Genosis story notes in an imported GEDCOM file become stories again - also without "import media" - with their paragraphs, line breaks and story source URL - Change: Long GEDCOM text values are no longer split next to a space - Change: Gallery image info save checks the Source URL and answers with the saved title and Source URL - Change: Ancestor Chart adapts to the screen: boxes and connecting lines follow the page width, 4 generations on wide screens, 3 on tablets and phones, and names and years only (larger buttons) on phones; the family list opens as a panel at the bottom of a phone screen - Change: Map settings and places saved by Genosis Time Map 2.0.0b1 move here on the Integrity Check; its old Google API key setting is removed - Bug Fix: "New tree from this ancestor" moved the person's parents and grandparents and cut the person off from their own children - it now moves the person, their spouses and siblings and all of their descendants (with their spouses), as the form describes - Bug Fix: "New tree from this ancestor" moved the person's parents and grandparents and cut the person off from their own children - it now moves the person, their spouses and siblings and all of their descendants (with their spouses) - Bug Fix: "Move person" with "include ancestors" only moved the person and their parents and left relationship links pointing into the other tree - Bug Fix: Moving a single person to another tree left their relationship links pointing into the other tree - links to relatives who stay behind are now removed - Bug Fix: Merging a tree into another tree left its sources behind, and failed with an error when the tree had no relationships - Bug Fix: A Family Member saving their own profile cleared the research status (verified, end of line, etc.) set by a researcher - Bug Fix: A date with a day but no month was saved with the day as the month (day 5, 1820 became May 1820), and days that do not exist such as Feb 30 were accepted - Bug Fix: Saving a full date failed with a fatal error on servers without the PHP calendar extension - Bug Fix: Dates such as "14 Jun or July 1613" were converted to an invalid date - Bug Fix: Saving a person while another tree was active moved the person into that tree - Bug Fix: Saving an AD date did not clear a BCE flag left on the person - Bug Fix: Ancestor Chart did not show grandparents and great grandparents whose gender is "unknown", and the arrow to more ancestors never appeared - Bug Fix: Relationship labels called a step-parent "mother" or "father" when half-siblings were linked as siblings - Bug Fix: Visitors who were not logged in saw people with no birth date in lists such as the Ancestor Chart name search, while their profile pages were hidden - Bug Fix: A person born in the Public View Cutoff year (year only) had a public profile page but was hidden from lists - Bug Fix: Create User now only lets a master admin create another master admin account - Bug Fix: The active tree remembered in a cookie is now checked - it must exist and be visible to the viewer (researcher-only trees) - Bug Fix: Saving a research note now has the same request check as deleting one - Bug Fix: GEDCOM import dropped notes written in the person's record (1 NOTE with text), so notes exported by Genosis were lost on import - Bug Fix: GEDCOM import lost repeated events (e.g. the second of three residences) when another event came between them - Bug Fix: GEDCOM import kept only the first letter of an EVEN TYPE - Bug Fix: GEDCOM import lost the BC of dates and dropped date ranges such as FROM 1862 TO 1865 - Bug Fix: GEDCOM import created no relationships for families listed only in the FAM record (HUSB, WIFE, CHIL) - Bug Fix: GEDCOM export wrote dates as "Jan 05 1820" instead of the GEDCOM "5 JAN 1820", lost BC, put continuation lines at the wrong level, and wrote no 0 TRLR line when the tree had no sources - Bug Fix: Deleting a person left their research notes and their generation rows behind - Bug Fix: Ancestor Chart name search output HTML in a person's name as markup instead of text - Bug Fix: The research notes form had an invalid action URL (the page's JavaScript submit still worked) - Bug Fix: Visitors could download files on the profile of a person born after the Public View Cutoff - Bug Fix: The first view of a person who is not in the viewer's active tree showed an empty timeline and empty item lists -
