admins can't delete/edit Forum stuff after updates.

Using Jamroom

My concern here is that we've descended into "legalese" and have just muddied everything. This is what the setting does:

Quote:
If this is checked, then 24 hours after a forum post is made, users who are NOT the forum owner or a Profile Admin will no longer be able to edit or delete the forum post.

If you're unsure of what a "profile owner" is let me know.

Thanks!

This is the new help that will go out in the next forum release:

Thanks!

Sorry about this - I'm doing a really horrible job of explaining things.

1) Profile Owners and Site Admins ONLY will be able to edit or delete a topic OR a followup on an existing topic if it has been more than 24 hours.

2) Regular Users - that is users who are creating a NEW topic or a FOLLOW UP to an existing topic on a profile forum that is NOT on their profile (i.e. NOT OWNED BY THEM) only have up to 24 hours to either delete or edit their topic or follow up to an existing topic.

When it comes to this setting both a NEW topic created by a user who is NOT the owner of the forum OR a followup to an EXISTING topic on a forum that they are NOT an owner of are treated the SAME.

They have 24 HOURS to edit or delete - after they they will no longer be able to.

If that doesn't make sense - please let me know the specific part of what I have posted that is NOT clear.

Thanks!

Can i change the icon for chat?

Using Jamroom

Strumelia:
Michael, in my skin, I don't have any subfolders in its
/skins/YOUR SKIN/img/ folder. Just some various .jpg, .png, and .gif images all thrown in the /img/ folder of my skin...no subfolders are there.
Would I need to CREATE a /icons_black/ subfolder there, and put my custom chat-open.png file in the new sub-folder? OR- just throw the new .png in the general /img/ folder of my skin along with the other images there?

You would CREATE a directory called "icons_black" and "icons_white". If your image is NOT in one of those directories it will not be seen as an "icon".

Profile Owner = the "owner" of the profile. For example - THIS forum that we are typing in is "owned" by The Jamroom Network. I am a profile owner of this profile - you are not. 24 hours after YOU post something, you will no longer be able to remove it or change it.

Let me know if that clarifies it. I apologize if it is a confusing setting - I will revisit the help for the setting and try to ensure ot does a better job of being very clear on who it is applied to.

Thanks!

The option is there to prevent users that participate in a thread from coming back at a later point and deleting their responses, thereby making the thread irrelevant. Profile admins and profile owners should always be able to delete a topic or response since they have an interest in maintaining the forum.

Let me know if that helps.

I found a way this could happen and have fixed it in Forum 2.1.1 - update and you should be good.

Hope this helps!

gary.moncrieff:
With it turned off for me Brian, admin cant see the edit/delete in forum, only when I enable this setting. Maybe I am misreading the setting however.

With it turned off it should function like it did before. What skin are you using?

Thanks!
