Help Understanding User & Profile Questions/Information

Ning To Jamroom

Tatiana Dokuchic:
I need a bit of help understanding where I should use Form Designer to place certain questions.
During the Ning Import I believe that:
Location became profile_location
Country became profile_country
These fields are not required.
Should I use Form Designer to add those two fields to the profile/settings form?
If you want your users to be able to update/change those fields then you'll need to add them to the Form Designer.

Quote:
I have another field that is required called "Second Life Avatar Name".
Should I use Form Designer to add this field to the user/signup user/account and profile/create profile/settings?
It depends - is that question something that should be part of the PROFILE data or part of the USER data? Add it to only one. In this case I think you would want to add it to the Account Settings form (not profile settings), since this is likely to be a unique value for each user in your system - and thus if you happen to have a profile that has more than 1 user attached to it you don't want them all to have to share the same second like avatar name.

Let me know if that helps.

GEDCOM import - marriage events

Genosis

sgasiorek:
I'm trying to import my family tree from GEDCOM and it doesn't import marriage event details (DATE, PLAC)

I just did a test import here and I'm not seeing an issue - what program was used to create the GEDCOM file? If possible could you zip up a copy of it and email it to me at brian [at] jamroom [dot] net? I'll run a test import here on it and see what's up.

Thanks!

Latest updates to Jamroom Core 6.0.0b1

I think I have this fixed - I've pushed the updated JS to jamroom.net here, so make sure and refresh your browser. Let me know if that looks better and I will get a new release in the marketplace.

Thanks!

I see it here on Edge. I thought MS was going to be better about their browser? Not a fan of either MS or Google - wish they both would just up and fail already.

OK I will try to test this on Edge when I get a chance - I agree 100% about Chrome - it's pretty bad.

Latest updates to Jamroom Core 6.0.0b1

gary.moncrieff:
If you slide chat open and then close it on Follow Me, the header doesn't go back to full 100% until you load the page again.

I'm not seeing this on my end Gary - header is resizing properly here. What browser are you seeing this in?

Thanks!

joanna:
Ok
Take your time, I know you are very busy.
I thought it might be connected with the new Jamroom 6.
If you need something more from me, just tell.
Thank you.

I have replicated this here and it's due to the editor placing paragraph tags around the names. I'm working on some other updates and will get this fixed up and pushed - should be by tomorrow.

Thanks!

Apache & Domain Mapping to Profile Part 2

Installation and Configuration

Keith Mauck:
i assume I need to change the name servers?

No - not for a mapped domain. You do for your "main" domain that has been created in the Server control panel here on jamroom.net.

You only need to update the A record for the mapped domain to point to your Jamroom server IP.

Let me know if that helps.

OK so that's not an error - that is working as it should be working. So the issue is why @joanna and @holly are not linked in the comment entry. I've tested here and cannot replicate the issue (it's working for me) so I will have to check this out on your site when I get a chance.

I'll check the forum templates and make sure the editor does not show on mobile.
