How easy is it to upgrade Jamroom hosting?

Ning To Jamroom

clrkprsn:
How easy is it to upgrade from the base hosting plan to one of the bigger/faster packages? Push button easy? Is there a cost to upgrading?
Thx!

Yep - just push a button. The cost to upgrade is the pro-rated difference in price between the 2 plans though the end of the month.

Let me know if that helps.

Packaging Module for Marketplace.

Design and Skin Customization

You could ZIP it up and attach it to the post here (or start a special thread for it) - those that want it can then download it and upload it to their JR site.

Packaging Module for Marketplace.

Design and Skin Customization

Thanks for the update Ken.

My concern here is that if there are problems at the coding level it's going to fall to us to support it for customers that have it installed on their site. Are you 100% comfortable with the low level PHP code that if someone reported a bug that was NOT in the templates that you would be able to fix and support it without us being involved? That you could create or update the necessary event triggers and listeners that might be needed in the future?

This isn't hypothetical - it will happen 100% for sure. I want to be sure you feel your PHP skills are at an advanced level so you can fully support your module from the ground up without needing to turn to us for support.

Also - since it is based on Aparna (MPL) your module could not be sold - it would have to be free (just an FYI in case you weren't aware of the license).

Thanks!

Has The Jamroom Site Showcase Been Removed?

Design and Skin Customization

clrkprsn:
Yeah... the sites in the showcase are quite dated. Do we have some newer JR5 sites? I too remember something that looked more like a Bootstrap site and was good. I'd love to see more modern examples.

I think we need to do a better job of soliciting sites - the sites you see on the list are ones added directly by our members - there's no "design" criteria applied. I know you're coming from Ning - almost every Ning site that has contacted us about moving to JR has for the most part insisted on keeping the SAME look and feel for their site.

N8Flex has quite a number of designs here:

https://www.jamroom.net/n8flex/networkmarket

that you might like. For the most part the skins WE have developed fall into a few categories:

1) Jamroom 5 skins that are "clones" of Jamroom 4 skins (such as Sage, Flashback, Nova, etc.) - these skins were designed to keep "true" to their look in Jamroom 4, and have not changed much since then.

2) the default Elastic and Lucid skins - these are VERY simple and are built as a "starting point" for customizing and creating your own skin

3) the "pro" skins (media pro, pro jam) - these are music oriented skins we took over from Oinkba design that are geared towards music communities

4) Ningja - this skin tries to put the "groups" support of Jamroom front and center since this seems to be the area that Ning users are most concerned with.

Building a skin that is both simple to customize and expand AND has "slick and modern" features that some people want (i.e. lots of Javascript base sliders, menus, etc.) is harder than it may seem on the surface. Most of the slick features are going to be harder or trickier to customize for the majority of our users, and on the other hand keeping it simple means new users to JR think that JR skins don't offer enough.

We have some ideas we are working on that hopefully can address some of this down the road.

Thanks for the feedback everyone :)

Photo Album sequence

Using Jamroom

lornawebber:
Our members love this feature and use it extensively.
My questions are about the order in which things appear.
1) Images added to albums are appended to the end of the Photo Album. Image Galleries show most recent image first. Can I change Photo Albums to do the same?
2) In lightbox view, could it be possible to scroll 'back' from the first image direct to the last image in the album, i.e. enable browsing backwards from the end.

We can check this out .

Thanks!

Add all modules to profile automatically

Suggestions

izhmel:
Each time you create a profile you have to add the modules to the profile for example audio ,video, file, and if you have allot of modules it can take some time to add all modules..

That's not how JR works - module permissions are set on a QUOTA basis, and when you create a profile you select the QUOTA you want the profile to be part of. That way if you want to change the features your profiles have access to, you simple change the quota settings.

Import Audio tool missing functions

Using Jamroom

Downloading is NOT set on a per song basis, but in your Audio Global Config. I believe the FoxyCart module will inject it's price into the import audio form, but I'm not sure. I will check it out when I get a chance.
