mariadb 10 compatability and issues?

Installation and Configuration

I've been running MariaDB 10.1 here for a while on my dev server and there are no issues I am aware of.

Make sure you've set things correct for mariadb in your my.cnf

The queries you have shows are fine - they've been running a max of 2 seconds.

Profile (personal) pages and discussion module

Using Jamroom

A profile forum is just like a group - it will show on the profile the forum belongs to. For example - you're on the "Jamroom Network" profile here. I'm responding to you IN this forum.

If you go to my profile:

https://www.jamroom.net/brian/action

you'll see I don't have a forum.

Note that 'Profile Forum' is NOT the same as 'Group Discussions' - these are 2 different modules.

Let me know if that helps.

Troubleshooting delayed emails

DannyA:
No I'm using mailgun. And the mail queue is NOT sent to any other server.

If you're not using the mail server, and the emails are being sent directly via Postfix on the server the email is generated from, I'm certain JR is not taking 4 minutes to send it from JR to the local Postfix server.

Check out your local /var/log/maillog - it will let you know.

I am not sure if this is right or not, but I thought that the discussions that were imported from Ning were supposed to end up on each member's discussion mod on their profile page. Is this right? Also, is there a way to set any new discussions that happen here on Jamroom so that they show up there?
Thanks!

Group Discussions belong to a group - the discussion will show up on the profile the Group belongs to.

Troubleshooting delayed emails

Using Jamroom

DannyA:
Yes, Accepted and Delevered are actually within the same minute on jamroom.

However, there is a 4 minute gap between JR ativity log "user has signed up and is pending validation"
and mailgun log "accepted".

This leads me to think that its taking the queue a long time to send the mail to mailgun.

I'm not aware of anything that would make it take 4 minutes. Are you using a dedicated Mail Server? If so, and it's NOT running on your front end, make sure you're pining it from your Cron Server so it handles the queue's ASAP.

Let me know if that helps.

Troubleshooting delayed emails

Using Jamroom

Make sure you're looking at the right times in the Mailgun log - you should have 2 events for each email:

"Accepted" - this is when Mailgun has received the email from Jamroom and put it into it's delivery queue

"Delivered" - this is when the actual email delivery happens.

Make sure in your email settings that you're not throttling your email. Note that I think Mailgun is running a bit slow today - it may not be the best day to be testing, as I''m seeing about 60 - 90 seconds on emails delivered today (and JR is sending them out immediately).

Hope this helps!

Google Issues

Using Jamroom

Yeah I think that would be worth a try. Note that I just helped another JR site do this exact same thing (add the google-site-verification meta tag) and it worked first time no problem - so I would also DOUBLE CHECK the value you are using and ensure it has been copied correctly.

Social Media, Youtube, SoundCloud and so on automatically sync

Suggestions

The OneAll module will do this for you.

Note that when it comes to "synchronizing" an account with (for example) Facebook, there is very LITTLE that Facebook will let you do via their Connect API - for the most part if you want to do something TO Facebook, you need to be IN Facebook (other than sharing to your wall). They really restrict what can be changed from outside their system.
