lisa:
Hi, Brian! Whew! I think I have it cleared up. Yes, the tree was the default tree and nobody was in it so technically it was new, and yes, I deleted the old tree once the people were loaded in. It ended up not being as bad as it originally looked. Thanks! Lisa

I'm glad to hear that - I'm going to testing this in depth in the morning and see if I can replicate what you saw and get it fixed up.

Thanks!

Changing what shows in the Groups Tab on profile pages

Ning To Jamroom

Strumelia:
So, we have now gotten a drop down link to show what groups we ourselves are members of.
Am I to understand that we likely won't be able to get any further and be able to see the groups that OTHER members are members of?

The issue with that isn't that it can't be done - anything is doable - the problem is that there's really no where to put it. Right now everything at the profile level is a profile item - i.e. audio, groups, whatever - these are things that a profile owns. The list you are looking for is not owned by a profile, but is owned by a user (since users belong to a group - not profiles).

So the root of the issue is that we don't really have a mechanism or place in the UI where we put "lists of user things that are visible to OTHER users", since right now all user lists go in the user menu.

Let me know if that makes sense.

Yes, I clicked "sync profiles" but all of the people in the gedcom were new. George now has a picture of a woman as his profile, with both of their information in the timeline. I am not even sure who is who.

I am not sure what happened to the sources, but when I click on sources it says there is nothing there. I wasn't terribly far into uploading census records, etc so it isn't a biggie, but the messed up profiles will take some time. Thanks! ~ Lisa

I'm looking through the code here trying to figure this out, but I'm not sure - let me ask a couple more questions:

1) Was the tree you were importing to a "new" tree or did it have existing profiles in it already?

2) after you moved the profiles from the one tree to the other, did you delete the old tree? If so I think I found a path in the code where the sources could be removed - I'm checking on that.

Thanks!

What does jrProfile_is_profile_owner() do?

Jamroom Developers

So that it can adjust menu items, show menu items, hide menu items, etc, - I can think of a number of reasons why it would be good to know. It's currently used to highlight specific menu options depending on what you are viewing.

if you want to remove it, then feel free to remove it - I don't think it will "break" anything, it's just you may not see something highlighted that previously would have been.

Profile info tabs and name still showing up when clicking "ALL" Group discussions

Using Jamroom

if you have not customized the module templates, then you don't need to do anything - you should be good to go. This only applies to templates you have customized in the ACP.

Let me know if that helps.

What does jrProfile_is_profile_owner() do?

dim:
douglas: That is being used for the main menu, to highlight a link if it is the active page. There maybe another reason for it, but I know that is one of them.

@brian, what the code is doing more?
I want to understand that I will lose if I do not use it.

It lets the header template "know" if it is being included by a profile templates versus a skin template.

That's correct - as a master or admin user you are an owner of everything on the site - so you will see ALL options available to the profile.
