Help me understand error logs

Using Jamroom

And you're still seeing that error? Or are they older errors?

Upgrading YouTube to newest version 1.2.0

Announcements

blindmime:Now today this is not happening. However, I was getting errors unable to import youtube ID so I regenerated a key which still didn't fix the errors, but after testing on a few different jamroom installs, a couple different hosts, the imports began working perfectly. Doesn't really make sense to me though.

I'm suspecting on the new V3 API that Google is doing some caching - this is the same type of "issues" we see with Facebook. the V2 AP worked perfectly, but this new API will allow Google to monetize their customers even more, so I know why they are forcing everyone to upgrade :(

GEDCOM import

Genosis

Sorry for the hassle - unfortunately it's difficult to tell from here what the issue might be - if you can, contact me at support [at] jamroom [dot] net with your site login info (Jamroom and FTP) and your GEDCOM file I can check it out and get to the bottom of why it is not working.

Hope this helps!

DannyA:Ok, forgetting about messages from admin. Is there any way a user on the site can see that there are notifications pending or read their notifications on the site? I didn't see anything, but wanted to make sure.

That's what Private Notes are for ;) But if I understand what you're looking for, you want a "read only" private notes - and that's not supported.

Troubleshooting workers

Using Jamroom

DannyA:sysadmin verified. no connection issues.

It could also be performance - I just tried to load the URL for one of your servers here and it timed out after 60 seconds and did not load, so something is up.

GEDCOM import

Genosis

nl:You're right, if I get it there is a limitation to 755 permission max, 777 are forbidden. I just discovered that. But I didn't get any problem with move_uploaded_file before... (there is several other cms installed on the same host).

yeah I see you're running as FastCGI, so it should issue a setuid() BEFORE the PHP call so even 700 should work - since it is not, I'm not sure what it would be without access to the filesystem - do you see any errors in the Activity Log -> PHP Error Log tab?

Thanks!

GEDCOM import

Genosis

nl:Hi,

I don't know that, but I tried to set everything to 777 without more success...

Are there any security policies running on the server - i.e. something that will check the directory permissions on each request? I doubt it, but I've seen it before so want to check.

Upgrading YouTube to newest version 1.2.0

Announcements

This should be fixed now - update to version 1.2.2 and the daily maintenance should not do this. Note that I did NOT see this on my test site, so my assumption is that YouTube failed to respond on your requests and the module interpreted that as a failure.

DannyA:It would be a nice option; much like facebook's notifications.

Alternatively, an addition to the notifications system to show pending Alerts and # of items on toolbar, and a page to see all your notifications. It's a good alternative to email and if the api supported it, it would work much better in an app. Alerts are critical in an app for getting users to engage.

Notifications should not be an issue - Jamroom already has a fairly robust notification setup. What you are looking for is a "one way private note" - i.e. an inbox that the users can VIEW messages in, but not respond or start messages - that's not supported.

Every single one of those errors is a network timeout, so you definitely have connectivity issues. I have never had access to your AWS account - you'll need to double check your security policies to ensure the servers can communicate with each other.
