i do still have a question though now i have ☮ soaring eagle ॐ soaringeagle and soaringeagle 1 showing up under my picture

is the data imported associated with thed user account or profile
the reason i ask is can i delete the ☮ soaring eagle ॐ accoount leaving the ☮ soaring eagle ॐ data delete the soaringeagle1 account create a soaring eagle master account link that to ☮ soaring eagle ॐ profile
and not lose the data

it just seems messy having the extra useless accounts

edit to add...why cant we simply promote existing accounts to admin..that would make so much more sence and he so much simpler...not to mention intuitive...thats just how youd expect it to work

ok i figured it out by trial and error so we can move this to tips as the documentation was no help neither was searching

to create additional admin accounts
step 1 go to user accounts -tools-create new user
step 2 create a user assign it master admin if they have a profile uncheck the create profile if they dont leave it checked
step 3 if they had a profile link the new admin user to the existing profile

that was not intuitive at all nor was there any info anywhere i could find that explained it
luckily im the type to keep poking around till i figure it iut

im going to attempt to explain my confusing situation clearly so i dont confuse you as much as im confused

i created the site with soaringeagle wich got assigned id 1

during import ☮ soaring eagle ॐ was assigned 85 and all my ning data imported there

thinking i needed to link them and selecting that profile would make it "active" and the profile id post as i linked them but that didnt give the desired result

so i re-linked ☮ soaring eagle ॐ to ☮ soaring eagle ॐ and went into users and saw in soaringeagle 2 additional profiles with checkmarks 1 the forums profile im importing into and 1 ☮ soaring eagle ॐ
and an option to change soaringeagle the user from master admin profile admin or standard user

but no other user accounts including ☮ soaring eagle ॐ have any option to make them an admin user

so im confused as to how exactly do i set other users as profile or master admins
i really want to login as ☮ soaring eagle ॐ to post as that name but still have admin access

and im going to be having some experts help me with a few things next weekend and want to set a master admin account for them (someone i trust and have worked with for years)

i agree on some of those points but have some other suggestions and hope i can make mine in fewer words

um and forgive me if im wrong but i think if you add the class "dragable" to the modules container div (would take testing to see wich) that will make them dragable?

but for organization 1st off strumelia the activity feed doesnt have a more button it has a next page button its the same basic functionality

but id like to see where the activity is now that be the main forums display in the big space ..with an excerpt under the titles
the activity feed id move to the narrow column next to that same height

douglass... would you like backend access to my ning 2 and 3 sites so you can get an idea of the admin interface like the 'features layout" that lets you arange the main page features and set options for each like how many etc

below the discussions/activity id put the photos below that groups (1 module) events i dont have a problem with the blog setup myself but could do with her suggestion as well

i dont know if the front page needs to be dragable if thats not too easy but if there was a front page editor with commented sections that let you cut n paste items where you want them like a shorthand code that calls the modules into place


1 thing i disagree on to a point is the vids i agree that when you add a vimeo yt or on site vid it should show in the activity ..but i on the other hand want to encourage more use of the on server vids that way they have to come to my site to view it and cant simply go onto youtube to see the same exact thing

as you will find no 2 ning users will ever agree on exactly what they want 100% of the time haha you'll never please us all as an out of the box thing however you offer the power for us to please ourselves
so once you have something that gives that initail very usable impression and atracts some of the more gifted coders to come over and start posting tips and tweaks and custom modules ..then you'll have a 1 site pleases all situation

and i think attention to the activity feed and the front page layout customization options will get ya there

ning took 56 months to a year to get a decent activity feed rolled out so no pressure to perfect it right away just giving ya long term ideas

but short term i think a few tweaks with the discussions and maybe adding all content sources to the activity will be a big head start

strum in the jractive module there should be an image with the lil arrow thingy replace that with your own "more" button image and that should do the trick..but instead of extending outwards it flips a page

can the latest discussions (on front page and in profiles) be lists of forum discussions (wether main forum or other profile forums) instead of group discussions and if anything have a latest group activity that includes comments and discussions etc in groups
but that latest discussions really needs to be the forums or its just confusing and misleading

i mean say in a group someone posts a comment, replies to a discussion or even just joins any activity in that group for forums obviously its the most recently replied to (or created) same with blogs etc they are more straightforward but groups it would be any activity in the group wich might be more complicated
i was trying to figure out a way to sort by anytime jraction is implimented in the jrgroups module

but was way beyond my comprehension of the code..
i mean i understand the logic just not how to accomplish it

not a problem and totaly understand
and like i said i only use privacy on 2 groups

and now that were off ning its not even as necessary on them.. well the 1 was a 'relationship support" group that was private just so ppl can talk safely without risk of being spied on by the ppl they are having issues with

but it hasnt gotten that much use recently so it might not matter

sitemap/router.php question

well i find on large sites its very helpful and even on medium sizzed sites when i added a proper sitemap to a few sites they hada 50% increase in trafic within 2 weeks and while watching how they crawled 1 site that had a events calander the bots would get totaly lost searching through decades of empty events dates and hardly touching the main site at all without giving them a lil direction


and yea i knew it wouldnt be a high priority and thats fine...
but when u do impliment it imbetting you see a big improvement in your sites trafic

i see u just released a core update too with some order by fixes etc i was wondering if it would be hard to add an order by most recent activity function

this is a nice way of bringing the most recently active content to the top of the list
