groups not displaying right

ok after thourough testing i have come to the conclusion that this very well might be relaterd to all the unchecked "modified" templates in the last 2 ningja skin updates
both times there were a dozen that said modified by me...as i upgraded before ii cloned and before anythjing was changed
1 of wich was the 404 wich i did a comparew both checked and unchecked and they were the same as every 404

i was then told to reset them

heres the odd thing
earlier today i had to hunt around for a {debug} that i left behind and triggered on my profile pages i found it and removed it...in my cloned skin

now i switched to the unedited freshly updated ninja skin that i had reset all those unchecked checkmarks on....and guess what not only does the groups still not worrk right
with all sitebuilder modules shut off

but that debugs triggering on my profile ..only in the untouched default ninja skin not in the edited one

so im really thinking something went wrong with the last 2 upgrades toi ningja
all these unchecked "modified" pages that were reset
i have a strong suspicion that strumelia just left them unchecked and didnt reset thats why she sees the groups right and i didnt

something bothered me about just resetting those without 1st comparing the checked vs unchecked version but since the 404 didnt change a thing wether checked or not i didnt bother testing the rest

im really thinking thats the case and what i might do...is rename ningja via ftp ande try to get a fresh install instead of upgrade and just see ...

i will get toi the bottom of this

to be thourough i unchecked my jrgroups changes (just adding the module searches)


the fact that debug triggers in the totaly unmodified ningja skin is extremely suspicious..and confusing

i believe that is what i mean give me a few min to test disabling sitebuilder and taking comparison screenshots
i know in sitebuilder u cannot rewdit the groups
i think theres just a conflict in the skin when the site builders enabled but let me do a few tests and get right back to u ill be thorough disabling all sb features then turning on 1 at a time

the groups feature in sitebuilder the sidebar that should be hidden...isnt
the discussions and pages that should be visible.. are hidden

additionaly there are other group changes that need to be done unrelated to sitebuilder but site builder causes seerius probblems with group usability..in short all that can be seen is a comment wall nothing else (well group image name and description too)


besides the discussions andd pages being seeen, the sidebar and profile header..the profile menu up should be hifdden
the 'follow' you see now follows the profile, not the group
a group follow needs to be added


oh yes in sitebuilder you also sdont see the members list...all you see is the info box and comment wall


comments and discussions need pagination

ok micheal since im all new to that 1 lil peice of the puzzle ill ask for your help onthen take it from there
to get my seprofiledesigner module to add a tabto the profile modification interface
how do i just make my new module add a form on a tab on the profile mod (not interested in complicating the create a profile only as an advanced modification feature after creation)

and a related question i havent quite figured out the ..whats it called linked select..something like that
i dont think it does queit what im hoping for what id like to add if possible is a checkboox that says i know css checkingit openes a second option that says i know imporoper css may break mobile responsiveness if both are cheked a css input option opens up (power users quota and above only)

but then again im not certain that smarty codes can be used to inject css into a css file i know they can inline just not sure of in a css file


anyway once i got the form on a tam on the modification page im good to go

well im not sure
what were talking about iss on the groups pages
they see no sidebar..i do
they see pages and discussions
i dont

we had other suggestions gor the groups pages to improve it but on the groups page i see no discussions no pages
now i know i can create my own custimized groups listing maybe wwith categories or whatever but i cant seem to edit the group page itself
..not with sitebuilder
and those parts just arent seen in the current ninja skin with sitebuilder enabled


wich i knows still beta and not ready just letting you know that i cant see those items in group
even with the uncustomized release
im sure if i disable sitebuilder i can
but i told u i wanyted to test the hell out of it and theres a easy to see issue

thats awesome
ive looked at that but had no idea where to start on it haha
like i said wasnt quite up for a module creation yet but guess ill give it a go

but pauls got my login u can take a peek at the buddhaninja skin and the very begining of the basic profile customizations i began but idealy yes they should be contained in a module arranged in a logical way

i wish i had the skills to do the see your changes as u make them thing like ning had (or a preview button if u made css changes)
but i feel i can slowly build a relatively functional version of the profile design studio that ning had

and sounds like were both thinking the same from diferent angles though i bet u figure it out way faster then me

tho really every mistake i figure out makes it a tad easier to go on from there


ok im going to try that out see what i can figure out

i was so inspired was about to work till dawn till i checked the date and realizedits xmass eve and although id rather celebrate the soldctiuce or evensaturnalia ..got nephews to make happy in a few hours so really should get to sleep

hey jamroom team and ningsters alike
im working on something that i believe can be packaged in with the site builder and a ning skin
unfortunately not exactly sure how unless someone can create a simple module for me since im not quite up to module creation
but let me explain what im creating
it will be alot like the nings "design studio' capability but im using the modify profile form wich cant be cloned along with the skin
so id need a simple module that for now nust adds a blank form called profile designer like the profile tweaks adds a customize tab

ive only just barely begun but in time it can be pretty powerful as it will eventually give you lots of control over your profiles design with simple checkbox and spectrum pick and dropdown selkect ease
and will even alow power users some direct code insertion


one thing however cause its my 1st skin and 1st time working with jr 99% of my css tweaks have gone into site.css
when they probably would be best put somewhere more logical for end user edits

so it will be in somwhat rough form and youd have to reorganize a lil to make it more ..standard
but point is if there was a form as part of the skin or as a bundled in module that i can use for developing my full profile control designer that would be awesome


it will be a work in progress as i'll build in basic contrrolls then add in more advanced as i go on

i'll have a basic working setup in a few days as a preview
im building the function into my working skin as well as the one im putting together as a releasable ning skin

all 4 of yas ill give ya master admun accounts to peek in on the progressand see what im building into the templates and customize form

though like i said ideally id want a form that can be packaged and be used in multiple skins

or be added into the function of the sitebuilder somehow

a profile builder if u will not a drag and drop reorder and add widgets thing just a quick easy way to redesign the style and flair of a profile in numerous ways

we sure do ask alot of these guyys and i was always the 1 on ning telling ppl how impracticcle it was to expect ning to spend a whole lot of efford designing somrewthing that only 5 out of 100,0000 sites would use
but i think we hhave kept all of our requests to the basics that pretty much all ning users would want and not started demanding special case things like were rampant on ning


all in all though im loving the way its shaping up


ive begin to realize though that some of the things i thought werent really done were just problems with the beta site builder wich now that im using it i dont want to give up using it till its just right

yea thats what im working on and paul i think u gave me a clue ill trey tomorow ..finaly making headway on tonights project after hours of stupid miistakes
but when my projects done it will be something alotta ning users will want


so paul in that case can order by like _highest_average_ovceral_rating also work/

thank god i got uy geniuses cause i got so many ideas that are taking ages to figure out but will be awewsome when i get em right
