see i see yours diferently its probably because i have site designer enabled that even on my default uncustomized i dont see discussions or pages whatsowever

ah ive come so far on sitebuilder i dont want to have to go back..

i wont get the code right but maybe the logic
for each item,
if jrVideo video_highest_average_overall_rating=$item.video_highest_overall_rating
eseif jrYoutube...etc
esif.. jrVimeo


the search im not so sure about i think theremaybe a way to figure out the rating order

for as short a time as ive been famaliarizing myself with this code im getting better and better at figuring it out it just takes alot longer then it should haha...

i saw what i saw minus my profile cover image
but replace profile links to main menu with discussions
replace side with pages
paginate discussions,.. well show 4-6 scroll to 10-12 paginate from there commentes 10-20 paginate

yes thats what im using but the question is how to effectively use a module search to search the multiple modules u seenmlessly list and.. how to list multiple modules ranked in order by ratings if each module like youtube_average_overal_rating video_average_overall_rating vimeo_average_overall_rating etc etcetc

when using seemless i just cant figure out how to mix the search to search all modules fior all feilds ahd how to rank them by multiple mixed ratings
and didnt see anuything on that link that helped

yes agree with strum add an anchor at the comment box..the text editor and simply copy that url to the bottom of the comment change the text to comment back instead of profile name and add the anchor to the url so it takes u to the text editor

sure i could addit to my template in 10 seconds flat but it is something that every ning users going to want and the fact that ning 3.0 still doesnt have that simple lil thing has been the subject of never enbding complaints for over a year now

you are im not and no..i dont mean a blog link on profile i mean in main menu a link to all blogs

groups list is
full screen (but still cant get it to order by latest activiy for some reason)

but the actual group itself is a mess

no disccussions visible no pages to be found and it looks like its just part odf the profile
not only the sidebar butthe profile menu and up to the pain menu should be hidden
and profile menu replacedwith a group menu ,,unless the discussions members and pages aere all on 1 page
but they could as easily be seperate pages within the group
whatevers easier to do
either way wether 'familiar to ning users' or not will be simple enough to figure out and use

otherwise im having a couple lil issues with module searches not seeming to work right (the photo page 1 u gave me for instance)

at 1st i thought id play with the site builder and just use the old way for my real site creation but now im hooked and wont give it up

oh the other thing im wondering about is searching and ordering by rating within a multi module seamless list

ps i removed that annoying and useless h3 from seamless..its alot more seemless without drawing attention to the seams..lol
plus youtube item youtube item over and over in headings is just bad seo

ofcourse theres still several things from my end i need to work out before i can move and thats easily going to take a couple more weeks if i get lucky and not have too much troyuble

but theres a couple things that to me seem high priority to be ready from your end

the biggest of wich is groups and i have some suggestions wiithin the groups feature all the "porofile" parts should be hidden the sidebar the profile menu everything up to the header and if the profile uses a custom logo in profile tweaks that should revert to the site default (i suppose there maybe special cases where you might want those parts seen so maybe it should be ah option with the default as hiden)
the discussionsmodule with(in the group canb go above the comments and a group bio box above that (full editor for text and multimedia)
optionaly the profile menu can be replaced with a group menu that includes discussions comment wall and pages (if u want to go tyere a group specific gallery thats isolated from the main gallery would be cool...down the road no hurry)

having that groups set up right with all parts accessible from within the group.. and not looking like its part of a profile but a stand alone thing (even thiugh i know technicaly everythings within a profile..but if it just didnt look like it was a group should be about the group not the profile owner that created the group

im not sure if you have control over this or just foxy cart
but having only a 1 shipping price option per item per domestic or international is unrealistic and a nightmare to work out
i spent 6 hours on the phone today trying to get a somple answeer to how much would it cost to send a 5.4 oz bar of soap and a 12 oz bottle of shampoo domesticly and internationaly
there was no simple answer
so there needs to be zone rate options flat rate options ..the shipping needs to be more configurable

i can go live without that but alot of shops are going to find that hard to use since rates vary zip code to zip code wether its going to a residenbce or business wether the box is round square rectangle

i asked how much it costs to ship a bar of soap and got an answer " well our maximum size is 160 inches by 160 inches and 150 pounds and thats anywhere from 38 and up based on the value of the shipment
i said its 3 inches by 1 inch and thevalues 10 bucks and the weight 5.4 oz so how much

well our maximum size is and our maximum weight is.....

its impossible to get a simple answer that covers all domestic and all Internationale with 1 price per item


other then the groups needing everything accessible and to not look oike part of a profile the blogs should have a menu item not just the front page thing

this isn't a specific tip showing you how to accomplish a specific task but a more generalized one

sure theres something to be said about having an 'out of the box readsy to use" product
but no product will everr be exactly what everyone wants or else thered be only 1 type car on the road every house built the same and every song ever sung would have the same lyrics melody and beat

so take that product and make it your own dont be afraid to scrap whole parts of it that were already built for you and rebuild them the way you want them to be
yes its alot more work to recreate whats already created just to have it work exactly how you want it but then you have something you can be proud of, something your happy with every detail of

the hard work it takes to get you there is a constant source of inspiration to take it further

for every thing you work hours and hours to perfect will give you ideas and inspirations for something more

you will run into a few walls that may feel impossible to get around but chances are if you start working on something else awhile you'll just stumble on the solution

and it really is true that every solution you find gives you a key and an inspiration to just do a lil more

now on ning when youd add more and more you just made things complica6tted and confusing
but here im finding the more im putting into it the simpler im making it for the users to use

ive pushed back my expected launch date till i feel ive reached a level of perfection
a perfect ballance between unlimited power and pure simplicity

so this tips not really about how to do this or that but instead to encourage you to do everything you want to...and can possibly do.. to make your wsite the site you always wanted
