Google Issues

Using Jamroom

Well, just make sure that the Google .html file that is downloaded gets placed, unchanged, in your public_html folder and is just left there. Once it's there you just go back and click on the 'verify' button on the google verify page. I think it's just a marker with a number to let Google know you own the site and can put something there in your server. Once google 'sees' that you put it there, it tells them you have access to and control/own the site.

I don't think you can use the google tool to upload it to your site Perrie.
I'm wondering if you actually did what was needed.
Did you ever figure out how to use a program like Filezilla to connect to your server and upload/download files?

Did you just plunk the whole google .html file you downloaded right into your public_html folder, here?:

/sites/thenewstalkers.com/public_html

It needs to go INTO the public_html folder, just as it is. It didn't work when I put the .html google file simply into sites/fotmd.com folder.

files in groups - transfer issues

Ning To Jamroom

In my site, we found that the Ning archiving tool did not retain the media content (videos, music) of stuff that was embedded within posts- within forum posts and group posts. The needed info was not included or provided in ning archives, so we simply could not include the embedded items in posts with our site import. This was the fault of the Ning archive tool, nothing to do with jamroom.
There was no way for us to pull that type of embedded content over here since it was missing from the ning archive. We just had to move on from it and tell folks to repost any important stuff that wound up missing. Perhaps that's the same stuff you are referring to?

Where Do I find how to:

Using Jamroom

After loading your own .png image logo (in your custom/active skin area in the Images tab), reset the cache and icons (under ACP link, system tools) and see if it's changed.
If not, you can also go into your skin's "header.tpl" (in templates tab of your skin) and look for the section under "logo". Wherever it says image= logo.png , or maybe image= 468x60_banner.png , change the image file name only from the current name of the jamroom logo image to the name of the logo image you uploaded (for example mylogo.png) in the several places you find it mentioned in the header template of your chosen skin.
Then hit SAVE changes. Then go back to the skin's templates tab and you'll see a little empty checkbox next to the header.tpl. Put a check in that checkbox and save at bottom- that will activate your change.
Lastly, Reset the Cache and be sure to check the icon option while doing that. Then it should change.

If your site is anything like mine...
now that you've set the signup to "Admin Validation", you should receive a notification every time there's a pending member or pending item- you will see those pending things in your Dashboard, which you can get to via your ACP link along the top nav bar of your site. In the dashboard you can look over the pending member and approve or delete them.

Perrie did you get your site verified with Google?

I did it via google's 'add html tag to site' method. If you know how to connect/upload to your server via Filezilla or other method, I could help you with that, it was not hard once I figured out what they wanted.

Question regarding text editor and quoting

Using Jamroom

Thanks, but I just stumble around and get lucky sometimes.
Sadly, the quote Tinymce button only indents whatever text you've already copy/pasted into your text window and then selected. And the 'indent' button already does just that.
It doesn't pull in anything from previous posts, it merely indents whatever text is selected in your own reply, nothing more. It's pretty useless and likely that's why they dropped that button in newer versions.
In Ning prior posts in a discussion (even a group discussion) all had their own "Reply" link which would then paste that entire post into your new text reply box, and it would be pre-indented, with quotes, and also with the author "John said".. That worked well for replying to a specific quote from someone's prior post. Much like our quote hover button does in Jamroom forums. But the issue is the lack of quoting ability in JR Group discussions.
