Alert tools for Administrators who need help from technical assistants

Suggestions

I'm not the Jr Team... they can respond better, but perhaps I can help in some way:
I can't follow all your notes above, too complex for my brain...lol, but...

1) Keep a copy of your Ningja skin that is the original JR version, not tweaked by you, but kept updated with every new JR Ningja update that comes along. Every time Jamrrom issues an update to the Ningja skin, YES apply that update to your Ningja skin and it will only update your ningja skin, the update will NOT go into any clonedcustom skin you've made, renamed, and customized.
2) after the update, use the Compare tool to see the update code difference between your previous Ningja skin version and the newly updated version of Ningja- that will SHOW you the exact section of update code. The JR description should tell you what the new update does and you can then decide if you wantto apply that update to your Custom skin or not.
3) if you DO want it for your custom skin (a bug fix or a cool new added feature for example) then using what you did in 1) you can copy the update code and apply it to your custom skin code. To be smart, you can FIRST make another Clone of your custom skin for safety and apply the update to it to see if you like what the update does or if it creates a problem. if you don't like what the update did you can just delete that test clone.

Posting as admin

So Ilker- maybe you could rephrase your original question, because I'm not quite getting it. Are you logged in as the other user, posting a video as them, and it's not appearing or something? ...in 'what' timeline?
This isn't jiving with the title of this thread- are you posting it as admin or as the regular member?

NingJa vs NingJaClone - do I need both skins?

Ning To Jamroom

If your skin and a module have conflicting instructions, your skin will override the module's instructions.

Any custom skin (ningjaclone) you are using will not get changed by any JR skin (Ningja skin) updates. You would apply the Ningja skin updates to your custom skin yourself, if you care to (and in most cases this is something good that you'd want to do if the update is fixing a bug etc).

You keep an original unchanged copy of Ningja skin, but your Active skin is the clone from Ningja that you renamed and you do your customizing on that skin. Then when a Ningja skin update comes out, you update your ningja skin and then use the Compare tool to see how the update code differs from your custom skin and you decide whether you want to pull that new code into your custom skin or not...if it's a feature you want in there.
Also when you are about to try some skin changes on your custom skin, first Clone it so you can go back to that if youve screwed everything up. ;)

Go ahead and keep applying JR updates to your modules- you'll want them up to date. Your custom skin will retain the tweaks you made to it and will generally take priority if there's a conflict.

How to create a page where all member profiles can be seen and browsed?

Ning To Jamroom

2) I'm thinking: ACP/Listing/Search/Language TAB to change the "search" label.

NingJa vs NingJaClone - do I need both skins?

Ning To Jamroom

Quick question- I have my custom skin as active, it was customized from the parent Ningja skin, which I still keep updated.
But I also have a copy of Ningtastic skin for some reason, which i think is an old skin you guys created long ago? Is there any reason for me to keep the Ningtastic skin around anymore, or should I just delete it now? (I plan to continue keeping my Ningja skin updated, and my custom (active) skin.

Can de-activated members continue sending private notes if still logged in?

I'd be thrilled if the "Profile Active" label to the left of the checkbox was just changed to "Profile Active/Viewable". Speaking for myself, I think it would be much clearer to all 'regular folk' that way. :)

Brian- is there no place for me to at least adjust the language for the: ? Help message on that Profile "active" checkbox setting?

I understand all you are saying Brian. I do still think it's confusing to have the language for the profile VISIBILITY setting as using the word "Active" rather than the word "Visible" or "Cloak"...the word Active implying user action, thus unchecking it makes me think i'm disallowing the profile from taking actions on the site....when that's not what it's doing. Could be people like me don't have developer language definitions of certain words in our mindset...rather we have the common person's usage definitions by default in our mind.
But hey I do hear you and thanks so much for helping me add the new form designer field which is going to get some use on my site for sure! We get at least one weirdo per year that slowly becomes kooky on us and needs to be 'disabled' from doing anything, at least for some time period.

What the... ?? =8-* lol!

It does seem misleading because unchecking it does not really prevent the member from 'acting'. Thus re-checking it would then reveal whatever dastardly things they might have posted while supposedly being 'inactive'. Should be called something to do with visibility. And the two checkboxes are then needing to be clearly differentiated.

Ok this appears to be in place now- thank you Brian! yay.

I'd like to CHANGE the language for the other original "profile active" checkbox under the Profile TAB however, because it's now confusing with this newer function active.

I want to change the original "Profile Active" checkbox now to read "Profile Visible" with the help to read "uncheck to cloak profile from non-admin members"...so this will be clearer.
But I can't seem to find this language under the Profile Form Designer...? Can you please point me to locate that so I can change the checkbox language for "Profile Active"?
