iFrame and Tables

Ning To Jamroom

You need to add iframe to the list of allowed HTML and you can do it just for your member Quota to restrict it to you. If the embed string also contains "src" add that to your list of allowed HTML.

I had this same issue with javascript code inside one of my templates that I did not want to be parsed by Smarty.

If you have some javascript inside your iFrame, try surrounding it with {literal} {/literal}. But the first step is to make sure iframe is allowable HTML.

thanks, @soaringeagle - I just need to get the A record IP address from Arvixe and ask them about the www as well.

Context sensitive menu in Tiny MCE editor?

Ning To Jamroom

I am unlikely to add it to the config template myself. If this is something that is generally supported by Jamroom I will do it.

I do want to give members the ability to embed images in blogs, though, not just have the one image. I have activated the src tag in the HTML for ME so I can do it and reference images that I have uploaded but it would be nice to offer it globally if here is a safe and easy way to do it.

I do not do this very often ...

The registrar for TheChocolateLife.com is GoDaddy and because I have my MX records for GMail there I don't want to move the nameservers to Arvixe ... unless all the existing records will transfer without a hitch and it will make everything just a whole lot easier.

The A record host is @ which points to 208.82.16.68, which I assume is some Ning name server.

Mail is hosted at Google, so I have CNAME and MX records for that.

There is a CNAME www entry which points to discoverchocolate.ning.com

I have to find an IP address or server name from Arvixe for the A @ host record.
TheChocolateLife.com sits @ thechocolatelife.thechocolatelife.info and thechocolatelife.info/thechocolatelife.

I like having a www tertiary name - what's the hostname for that?

This is the last stuff that's standing in the way of my making the switch. I just want to make sure I get it right as the delays are 24-48 hours if I get it wrong.

I have to configure txt, CNAME, and MX records for Mailgun. But that's a separate issue.

Approve Users on Sign up

Ning To Jamroom

If I add fields to the signup form, I probably want to use field names that exist in the user database. In which module is the user datastore browser so I can see the field names in use?

This way, if I want to surface data for all members pre- and post- Jamroom, I can do that. Example is the country field from Location on the profile.

Approve Users on Sign up

Ning To Jamroom

Here's a fun Catch-22 question I just spent a few minutes looking for ...

I want to add fields to the new member sign up form. I can see it when I am logged out, easy peasy.

http://www.thechocolatelife.info/thechocolatelife/user/signup

But as I am not logged in there is no Form Designer button.

For me, this is about using the answers to the Ning signup questions in a meaningful way.

On Ning I used a two-step verification process.

Step One: the person signing up has to verify that the email address is really an email address.
Step Two: manual review of the answers to the questions on the signup form before accept/decline.

The best place to review what's in Step Two is on the page where you make the accept/decline decision, which is where it was on Ning.

It's easy to add questions to the signup form, though if the fields imported from Ning are readily accessible that would make the process easier and would allow integration of that information on the profile page (right now I only surface the country out of the location information).

Adding the fields to the email signup notify template (this email gets sent to both parties? Just to admins?) means I am switching back and forth between my email client and the new member approval page. That's not a deal breaker, but it does add time to an already tedious process.

UX observation - keep tag cloud context

Ning To Jamroom

When I click on the Tag Cloud tab, the tabs disappear. This means I have to go back one page in the browser history - an extra and unnecessary step.

I would think that it would be nicer to keep the tabs when displaying the tag cloud, that way I can switch tabs in a single click.

This is not hugely important, obviously, but one of those projects that shouldn't take tooooo long and can fit in between the cracks of larger ones.
