Alternative Media Import

Genosis

Cool. I will give it a try by uploading a few new images in the next days and will then update the GEDCOM to test it.

Thanks.

Alternative Media Import

Genosis

When importing a Tamil tree to Genosis following these instructions ( https://www.jamroom.net/genosis/documentation/guides/1920/creating-your-site-using-family-tree-maker), part of the process is uploading media files.

In my case, this was several thousand files and unfortunately, windows limits how many can be selected at once using their file browser.
It makes the while media upload into a fairly painful iterative process.

In fact, a few hours ago, the post was under Genosis. Why was it moved?

Alternative Media Import

Genosis

Ah, this post is supposed to be under Genosis and the goal is simply to upload hundreds of images at once, not audio files.

Alternative Media Import

Genosis

Just a quick question:

The media import process is very slow when importing files for a thousand or more family members, would it possible to use FTP or similar to circumnavigate this?

Does the media import feature do something other than just upload the files to a particular folder? Is it registering and renaming them in the database? Could the same be achieved by running a script over the media folder if FTP was used?

Do I make sense?

My main problem is that I am uploading so many files that Windows limits me to a set number of files each upload and so I have to sit about for hours selecting the right files in multiple lots.

conc and cont fields on import

Genosis

Hi Brian,

They come, for example, following a BAPM field (or any other ). I know on some of the objects, they are concatenating as expected, but on fields like BAPM, they don't see to be.

I had originally written a long post about this but the forum kept telling me the orm hadn't validated, so I gave up and wrote this concise version a day later.

If I can get these CONCs and CONTs working on all events, I will be a huge fan of Genosis.

conc and cont fields on import

Genosis

The content of my conc and cont fields are not importing into events like baptism etc.
Is this a known bug? I see the include.php file has code for this in some switches but haven't looked too closely.
