What's the difference between a profile admin, a master admin and a power user?

Using Jamroom

Deb - Get the latest AutoFollow module from the marketplace (V1.1.1). I've added in an option to set (force) approval.

Getting ready to migrate second Ning site to JR.

Installation and Configuration

Up to you really ;-)
Might be easier after the import, when you have content to test any changes you make on.
Or you can create some dummy users and content before the import and make the changes then (we can 'reset' the site prior to import so that all dummy members and their content are removed leaving just the Master Admin).

Getting ready to migrate second Ning site to JR.

Installation and Configuration

Hi Deb
Just create the new domain on your Jamroom server then get the site ready to receive the import (layouts, logo images, template work etc.). Then purchase the import service and let me know so that we can schedult it.
Is this one of the domains already on your server? If so, and you're ready to go with I can do it at any time at the moment.
Cheers

Forum, Group or Discussion??

Installation and Configuration

I'll get the Discussion module into the marketplace so that when you try JR out you'll be able to install it.

Quote:out of curiosity why doesn't the Forum module allow for threaded comments?
To be honest, we never had any demand for threaded comments until we opened the Jamroom door to Ningsters. At that point we responded and added the feature to our Comments module, but the way the Forum module works made it too difficult for us to implement it there.

Note that in the archive Ning fail to include comment threading associations so imported comments are 'serial', but subsequent Jamroom comments on the same string can be threaded if need be.

Forum, Group or Discussion??

Installation and Configuration

Yes, there are three options when importing a Ning2 site forum -

Forum - Import to the main Jamroom forum module. What you are looking at now is this module so what you see here is what you'll end up with.

Group - Some users who have migrated there Ning sites to Jamroom liked the idea of a Group pages being the main forum, so this option was created. Basically a 'Forum Profile' is created or assigned and on import, forum categories force groups of the same name to be created, then for Topics under each category, Group Discussions are created, and the topic comments and then added to each discussion.

Discussion - This is an alternative Forum module that was sponsored by ex-Ningster @perrie. She wanted 'threaded comments' on her forums which this forum module doesn't support so the 'Discussion' module was developed to support this. Actually, I don't think this module has ever been put into the Jamroom Marketplace. If you are interested in it, I can do that.

Hope that makes sense. Out of the three I'd recommend the Forum module as that is the most featured of the three options.

Using Jamroom

Hi Deb - Maybe if your greeters set their profile settings to 'Approve Followers'? They will still get the new member emails but can then reject them as followers.

System core Update 5.2.41 to 5.3.0 FAILER

Installation and Configuration

Always a good idea to run the Integrity Check and clear caches after an upgrade, particularly a major one like this.

Explaining the Sign up form, a two-way problem, and a possible two-in-one solution

Using Jamroom

When logged in as Master Admin, go to the signup form - http://yoursite.com/user/signup - and click on the Form Designer button (top right). You can now add in more fields for the new user to fill in. Upon signup, the user's responses to these fields are in the User's DataStore and as such, with a bit of template work, can be made visible on the user profile page.
If you then use the Form Designer to add the same fields to the User Account form, Profile Admins can see them there prior to approving the account.

Using Jamroom

Strum - The module is in the marketplace now. Also, quotas don't come into it. Just configure the module with a comma seperated list of the Greeters' profile IDs and check the checkboxes as appropriate.
