Support Tickets or Forum Posts?

Announcements

We are seeing an increasing number of support tickets coming in every day to the extent that its taking a significant portion of our time keeping on top of them. Whilst we make every effort to respond in a reasonable amount of time (please remember that there are just five of us on this end) we do feel that a high proportion of the tickets would be better placed as forum topics, where other Jamroom users could contribute to the thread with help and suggestions, and the eventual resolution is available to others who might have the same questions in the future.

The general rules about whether to post a forum topic or a ticket are suggested above the ticket creation form -

Priority Ticket Support Is Available For The Following:

• Assistance with and Questions about Jamroom Hosting
• What you believe is a Jamroom problem or bug
• Errors or issues from unaltered Jamroom Modules and Skins
• Billing and other issues that are private in nature

Please search the Jamroom Documentation First

If Your Question Relates To The Following:

• How to or Issues with customizing your Jamroom site
• 3rd party modules or skins (non Jamroom Network)
• Non Jamroom related software or server configuration

Please post your question to the User Support Forum

Also note the line about searching the Jamroom Documentation first. Many of our ticket responses these days are just a one line link to a documentation page!!

If users can help us by doing this, we'll have more time every day to make Jamroom even more awesome than what it is all ready :-)

Thanks

Using Jamroom

Thanks for the comments about Jamroom. However, as Michael says, we are not going to complicate a module with a feature that only one person wants, particularly when there is a straightforward, alternative way of doing it.

1) Use the Form Designer to add a text field to the Profile Settings form and set its verification to 'a valid url'. Name the field 'profile_custom_redirect', say.
2) In the skin's profile_header template, add this code -
{if $profile_custom_redirect != ""}
    {jrCore_location("`$profile_custom_redirect`")}
{/if}

Will do Gary, but you are making the big assumption that people actually read the documentation ;-)

Will I lose my settings?

Off Topic

ProJamLight and ProJamDark are two seperate skins, so any settings and template changes made on one would need to be done again on the other.

The URL Mapper module only redirects if the original URL does not exist. It was designed so that broken links from other sites and search engines could be redirected.

Quote: Please to add URL re direct in profile tweets
So you want to give your users the option to navigate away from your site? If that is the case, add a url text field to theor profile settings page then code in the profile header to see if that field is set, and if so, redirect.

Quote: JR had an URL re direct option before in other JR versions , It may have been under quota ..
If you are refering to versions before JR5 they are no longer supported and I can remember very little about them!!

Quote: The URL redirect rule browser under tools don't work i.e. match view dubmusic.com/dub to URL dubmusic.com/rap don't work
To what module are you now refering to? If jrUrlMapper, that is working ok for me.

I don't recall that there ever was a URL field in the profileTweaks module. Are you refering to Jamroom4 perhaps?
