Migrate from Ning to Jamroom

Suggestions

OK - Put a Jamroom install alongside the Ning folder and email me the logins.
Just the free Jamroom Core and modules would be ok to start with.

Migrate from Ning to Jamroom

Suggestions

Sure. If you already have a target server with a fresh install of the Jamroom Core and all the Ning json and media files uploaded into a folder, send me the JR and FTP logins and I'll give it a go.
Otherwise I can set something up for you to upload your Ning archive to.
How big is your Ning archive, including the media files?

Migrate from Ning to Jamroom

Suggestions

A very timely post.
Jamroom user Ken Rich made us aware of the Ning situation and has been helping us build and test a Ning/Jamroom migration module which is pretty well complete and could be available within a couple of weeks.
Presumably you are a Ning user? If so, maybe you could help by exporting your Ning json files and media so that we can test the migration process further by building a Jamroom version of your Ning site?
Then, when we are ready to go with this, you could hopefully help Ken in spreading the Jamroom word amongst disgruntled Ning users?
Thanks
Pa

Google Maps on Events

Design and Skin Customization

ujGoogleMaps is a SteveX module.
Hopefully he'll see your post here but it might be an idea to post this on his forum -

To keep using JR or not?

Using Jamroom

Hi WD - Good to see you again.
Just to add to what Brian said, a lot of the functionality that were additional modules in JR4 has been built into JR5 modules, so most of the features can still be done, albeit 'differently'.
Why don't you give JR5 a try? Yes, its different, but with a short learning curve you'll hopefully see that its better. Checkout the documentation pages and some of the 'how to' videos there.
The JR5 Core is free. All the modules you'll need (and more) can be found in the SuperPack (we can do a discount on that for existing JR4 users.
Also, you can import your old JR4 site to JR5 (or can can do it for you as a service).
For a lot of JR5 customers (myself included), JR5 has 'revivalised' their websites and their users really appreciate the new features and how much easier it is to use.

Deleting items from feed

Jamroom Developers

Only 'by hand' by going to the action detail page.
Alternatively, a custom module that listened for 'db_delete_item' events could search the action datastore and delete associated actions.
