I'm guessing that all you have done so far is downloaded and installed the free Jamroom Core files?
To upload songs, you need to purchase the jrAudio module.
ACP=>Core=>Marketplace

If you are having trouble, you do need to be more explicit so that we can help. Its difficult to guess at what your issue is.

You can create quotas via the Admin Control Panel (ACP)
ACP=>Profiles=>User Profiles=>Tools=>Browse Quotas
Then you enable and set up quotas per module via the modules' quota tab -
ACP=>Media=>Audio=>Quota

Have you deleted the cache folders and files?
Delete everything in the /data/cache folder.

You can do what Michael suggests in any decent text editor with search/replace

Suggestions

If your not already using the jrLike module, install and adapt that. It would be pretty straightforward. If you are, then maybe clone and adapt it.
Would anyone else be interested in a 'jrFavourite' module? If so, I'll clone and adapt jrLike and put it on the Marketplace. Shouldn't take too long to do.

How Long Should The Integrity Check Take?

It should just zip through all the modules and skins. If if stops there's probably been an error somewhere.
Its ok just to refresh the page to get out of the modal window. Do that then check your logs to see if there's any clue there as to what went wrong.
