rubecork:
However, I will have to evaluate things because sometimes comments are there, and sometimes not.

If some of the comments haven't been imported it might be that the originator was imported for some reason. With Jamroom, everything is 'owned' by a profile, so if a Ning member isn't imported for whatever reason, none of the comments (or anything else) that member created will be imported either as there's no profile to attach it to.
Hope that makes sense.

Quote: I want to mention that the blogs came thru, but not any of the comments on the blogs. Could you explain that?
Have you got the Comments module installed and enabled for the profile quotas you are importing to?
If so, and comments have been imported but are not showing, try running the Integrity Check with the extra options 'Clear Caches' and 'Repair Modules' checked (ACP=>Core=>System Core=>Tools=>Integrity Check).
The comment module has been updated recently to include additional database fields to make searches a lot faster on large systems. The Ning Import module hasn't been updated (as yet) to include the creation of these fields so that is why the Integrity Check Repair Modules function needs to be used instead.

Quote: I am looking at your directions for creating a profile. Can you give a link to, or give details of the menu path to do this?
ACP=>Profiles=>Profiles=>Tools=>Create New Profile
For the Profile Owner field, select your Master Admin user name.

Newsletter to inactive users

Using Jamroom

This isn't going to be possible. If profiles/users are set to 'inactive', either because they haven't validated their account or site admin has made them so, they are just that and don't feature in any Jamroom functionality. This is part of the system core. Sorry.

This is because you have not configured the Ning Import module correctly.
With Jamroom, everything, including a forum, belongs to a profile. If you look above at the URL of this page, you can see that this forum belongs to the profile 'The Jamroom Network'.
On a typical Ning import, I will create a profile called 'Community' and put it in its own quota, 'Community Quota' say. Then I make sure that the Forum module is enabled for that quota.
I'll then get the 'Profile ID' of the Community profile (by updating it, say, and looking at the URL profile_id argument) and enter it in the Ning module config -
ACP=>Tools=>Ning Import=>Global Config=>Forum Options=>Site Forum Profile ID
Hit 'Save Changes'

Now when importing the Ning forum json everything will be imported to the Community forum.

How to have an admin embed a flyer (file) in someone else's event

Ning To Jamroom

I'm not seeing an issue with this.
I can upload a flyer as a file item, then embed it in event description editor field, and it then shows as a downloadable item in the event description. Is that what your user (and you) is trying to do?
Thanks

Hi @rubecork
So sorry, yes, we have two ongoing Ning import equiries with similar questions going on at the moment so yes, I have confused them. Apologies.
What you say about Ning archives is true, even more so since the company was taken over a couple of years back and the new owners stated that their archiving tool was no longer being supported. Its still there and usable (sometimes) but so is all the bugs and flakyness!!
How big is your archive? Maybe I could try it to see if I can import things ok?
Thanks

There is an option in the Ning Import module to assign the Ning admin to the Jamroom admin. If that is set the Ning admin member is not imported and all subsequent Ning admin content is imported to the Jamroom admin.
Checkout the ticket you created. I have now successfully imported your Ning members and blogs to your Hosted Jamroom site.

More curious to know why you cannot login and whether the attempyed Ning import has broken it. I'm wondering if there was a Ning member the same name as your Jamroom master admin user/profile and it was somehow overwritten? But I'm pretty sure the import module checks for that. Loads of Ning imports have successfully been done in the past and it wasn't uncommon for users to pick the same admin names.
As for logging back in, have you tried the forgot password option? I'd also check the user datastore on the database to see if it has been corrupted, and then try to repair it if so. Do you have cPanel or similar on your VPS? If you want to send the VPS login as a support ticket (support[at]jamroom[dot]net) I could check it out?
