Marketplace updates- Sometimes have to install twice

Installation and Configuration

In the case that I saw on a customers machine it stopped on jrStore which was down near the bottom of the list 'S'.

Thats why i guess the time it takes. If the execution of the php script was taking longer than the server settings allowed for it, it wouldnt finish.

but then the quicker individual updates would finish.

Its a guess, but seams plausable.

Marketplace updates- Sometimes have to install twice

Installation and Configuration

My guess would be server php timeout settings.

When I saw it it always stopped at the same point in the list of functions while running the update all but there was no problem when updating that module individually.

Have never seen it happen on my local machine.

The "Event Tracer" module already exists.

"Event Tracer"
https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/networkmarket/92/event-tracer

You would need to turn on 'downloads' in the config, then the trace data will be available via the standard listing function:

"{jrCore_list}"

Marketplace No Update Feature

Suggestions

or create another module that taps into the events and listeners system to alter the output of the module.

that way you get all the updates of the original module and keep your altered way of working too.

Customizations made to a JR4 skin will not be moved over to the JR5 skin during an import.

During an import all the profile data is moved over along with the song files and images and database info.

That data then comes out on whatever skins exist in the system. Since JR4 skins don't work with JR5, you would need to use a JR5 skin.

Nova skin has been created for JR5, so its there but any custiomizations and alterations you have made to your JR4 skin would need to be done again to your JR5 skin.

Add To Playlist Button Customization

Design and Skin Customization

the link to the playlist popup looks like this
<a title="add to playlist" onclick="jrPlaylist_select('18','jrAudio',null)">(the image goes in here)</a>

so make sure you have that onclick section in where you are wanting to put it.

Use {debug} to get the ID's of the items for the jrPlaylist_select()

"{debug}"

JR5 SEO

Using Jamroom

The best thing you can do for SEO is to have on-topic pages with external sites linking to those pages confirming what those pages are.

on the JR side of things every item has a specific details page, so onsite is taken care of.

If you want improved rankings focus on other sites linking to those details pages from related content confirming the content of your site.

Any plans for an "Invite" module?

Suggestions

careful with invites. I often tag them as spam when its clear that I don't know the sender and they are just blasting as a form of promotion.

This can cause your domain name to end up on blacklists that make it harder to get your actual mail delivered.

I'm sure im not alone.

If you notice the habitual spammers often send their emails from throw-away public (gmail, hotmail, yahoo, etc) addresses rather than the actual domain they are trying to promote.

If you know me and want to sent me an email, send me an email. Not a fan of invites.
