How to track and log Profile Admin activities after login?

Using Jamroom

Hello,

How to track and log "Profile Admin" activities after they log in?

There are some malicious Admins who engage themselves into suspicious activities to sabotage or harm the site and most of the time, they deny what they have done specially if the site has many admins or moderators. I once had such a bad experience with an admin in one of my projects.

So it will be great to track and log EVERY SINGLE ACTIVITY of a "Profile Admin" in JR: what they do, when and how. What they edit, delete, modify, upload etc, with date and timestamp.

This feature is already available in some Joomla extensions and it comes to handy if you have a troublesome admin or someone that you don't trust too much or someone who always deny what he/she does on the site.

Can JR handle the "Profile Admin" activities stream / tracking?

Thanks

Profile Admin vs Link user to Profile

Using Jamroom

Hello,

I have read a lot about how the "user group (Profile Admin)" and the "link user to profile" work.

It seems to me that there are quite the same.

Can someone tell to me the real difference between the two features and when one can be useful over the other?

Please give me a good application (an example of use) of the "Link user to profile" feature because even though a user is not link to a profile but if he/she is a Profile Admin, he/she will still be able to edit/update/upload file to that profile. Isn't the same?

Also, when many users are linked to a specific profile, when they upload a video or audio file, what name will show in the timeline of the profile they are linked to? Will it be the user name of the owner of the profile they are linked to or their own personal name?

Thanks

Is there a way to hide the public Admin Status (invisible mode)?

Using Jamroom

Hello,

Is there a way to hide the public Admin Status? (Master Admin Only)

Sometimes I can be working on the site but I don't want users or public visitors to know that I am online (invisible mode). I would like the master Admin status to still show "offline" while I am online with the possibility to switch from Offline to Online at anytime (a kind of status switcher). Is it possible?

Thanks

Creating a Page

Using Jamroom

Hello,

I am not using the site builder. I've used the page creator, it works fine but I don't like the way the url looks like (mysite.com/page/1/live).

I would like to create a page for the main site with an url that will look like: mysite.com/live

1) How to create such a page using a template file that will have the same look (design) like the entire page? Which template file should i copy from?

2) How to add meta tags (title, keyword, description, og:image, og:description etc) to the page created manually? Will i be able to add them through the Meta tag Creator?

3) Is there an easy way to translate the entire content (text) of the page (/live) created manually? or should i have to duplicate that page into several languages (e. g. /live, /en-direct etc)?

4) Will it be able to translate meta tag?

5) The page /Live will have some links on it (a kind of menu) to pages like /android, /ios, /pc, /mac etc.

How to get the site structure look like:

mysite.com/live/android
mysite.com/live/ios
mysite.com/live/pc
mysite.com/live/mac

Instead of:

mysite.com/android
mysite.com/ios
mysite.com/pc
mysite.com/mac

Thanks

How to edit and translate genres and Categories?

Using Jamroom

brian:
Yep - I understood you - how I outlined it is how it works. It's important to understand that genres don't live on their own - they are part of the data for a song. So to CHANGE a genre, just enter the new genre you want that song to use and it will be changed. There's no "editing" of genres.

Well, by entering a new genre while uploading an audio file, will it replace (modify/update) the old genre or will it create a new one (a separate one)?

So, How to completely delete/remove an existing genre created when uploading a file, if I don't want it to show in the system or to be used by users anymore?

As genres are part of the data for a song and as song titles can be edited, genres should have been editable too. Maybe the Dev Team should have thought about it (Just a suggestion).

brian:
You would just to make sure the existing genres are present in the OPTIONS for the select and text field (directions on doing that are in the HELP drop down for the options field in the form designer).

I must confess that i understood anything of your reply. it seems to me that right now, there is no way for the Form Design to pick an existing genre and to add it to the list of genre that will be created. right? (I am just trying to understand).

So, the only solution should probably be to delete the single genre created while uploading an audio file and create a list of pre-exist genre. Now, how to delete a genre as asked earlier?

brian:
Yeah I think you could do it that way - the key here is understanding that the genre for an audio item is another piece of data on the audio item (just like the title, length, etc) - it does not live separately from the audio item, so if you need different genres they will need to be entered as options in the form designer (if you want them to pre-exist for users to select from).

Will it make any sens having genre or category duplication? If a site has 4 languages installed, it will end up having a lot of genres: 4 genres, one for each language version.

Also, e.g. some words like "conference" in english is still "conférence" in french. We will end up have 2 "conference" genres/categories. That will confuse and mislead users.

Running a multilingual JR site is more challenging than I thought. Also it has so many technical limitation right now. Hope things will be improved in future Developments.

Thanks

How to edit and translate genres and Categories?

Using Jamroom

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your reply. But it seems you didn't understand my question.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I would like:

1) To modify (edit) an existing genre, not to enter a new one. e.g. When uploading a audio file, I created a genre called "Song". Later, I would like to edit and rename the same genre to "Music".

2) To create a set (list) of genres/categorie at once, ready for the next use, instead of creating them one by one when uploading new audio files. Now the problem is when trying to create a list of genres using the Form Designer, the first genre I created earlier when uploading my previous audio file, is not there. So, how to create a list of genre using form designer that will include/incorporate the existing genre?

Also thanks for your reply confirming that there is no multi-lingual support for genres or categories.

Here is a scenario:

We have one audio meeting recording (in english), the same meeting file was translated/interpreted later to Spanish and many other languages.

In JR, we added the English version of this file into a genre called "meeting". We would like to add the Spanish version of the very same meeting recording. Should we create a new genre/category called: "reunión" (which the word "meeting in spanish")?

Please give me your opinion, a good approach of handling this scenario.

Thanks

Audio and Video modules disappeared on the profile after using the "Apply To All Quotas" checkbox

Using Jamroom

brian:
Click on the "YouTube" search button when creating a new youtube video - you can import multiple videos at once using the search.

Ok. Thanks. It would also be great to add a feature to automatically push the entire youtube channel and automatically show videos in JR (It is just a suggestion). Thanks

How to edit and translate genres and Categories?

Using Jamroom

Hello,

It might sound stupid but for hours, I have been trying to figure out how to edit Genres and Category.

I have entered a genre while uploading an Audio file. Now I need to edit it. How to do it?

Also, instead of creating genres when uploading audio files, I would like to create pre-set list of genres that will already be there in the system and users can select from it. I know that the form designer will probably handle it but my question is how to create that list on genres, including the existing genres I created earlier when uploading the audio file? Because when i try to create genres using the form designer, that first genre I created is not there. Please help.

Also, how to translate Genres and Categories. We will be running a multilingual website and I would like the genres to get translated when the site language version changes.

Thanks

Audio and Video modules disappeared on the profile after using the "Apply To All Quotas" checkbox

Using Jamroom

michael:
Its normally 'video' and shows youtube, vimeo, video. You can change that though from the LANGUAGE tab of the module.

Thanks for the support, Michael. Now I understand how the "Combined Audio" and the "Combined Video" work.

Just one more question (probably the last one): The Youtube video should be entered manually one by one or the whole youtube channel can be pushed form JR?

Thanks
