Some questions (from a Social Engine user)

Design and Skin Customization

Hi spiritwolfie, welcome to the Jamroom forum :)

It is possible to make your Jamroom site look (and work) however you want it to.

Whilst some of the themes (we call them skins) are music based you can configure your site to use them in ways where music isn't a factor at all. They should work for you "out-of-the-box".

If you need to customise the skin to look different or have a different layout you can edit templates in the control panel or via ftp. You will probably need to know some html and css to get a good result.

If you need things to work differently and beyond control panel configuration you'll want to know or learn a little smarty and/or javascript, but most users don't need to go that far to create a unique site.

You can get great help here on the forum, and there are a range of premium support and hosted options as well. The help and support is great here, set up a trial and give it a test drive.

Allow for a jrLike tpl_dir parameter

Suggestions

Thanks Paul, I've temporarily added that in to both jrLike and jrRating here on localhost and I'm not seeing any problems with it.

Allow for a jrLike tpl_dir parameter

Suggestions

Hi Paul :)

Yes, jrComment has the additional if for the tpl_dir parameter which allows template override by a module (ujCustom) where the tpl_dir=ujCustom

Allow for a jrLike tpl_dir parameter

Suggestions

Could jrLike work in the same way as jrComment regarding the tpl_dir and template parameters?

I'd like to specify a custom template parameters in my module template without having to create an override in the skin.

This is from jrComment:
if (isset($params['template']) && $params['template'] != '' && $params['tpl_dir']) {
    //allow other modules to set the tpl_dir.
}
elseif ...

It would be cool if jrLike and jrRating did the same.

Thanks :)

What do you love about Jamroom 5 right now?

Off Topic

I love that you can add template and tpl_dir as parameters to jrComment!

I can have comments work differently for my sectional item module, but leave jrComment at the defaults for the rest of the site :)

Profile Menu

Design and Skin Customization

That template is the default which is probably overridden in your skin as menu.tpl

Try putting your code into your skin menu.tpl and see if that does the trick.

How Can I Change Button Icons?

Design and Skin Customization

You can use icon="hand.png" if you want another of the core icons (which are in /modules/jrCore/img/icons_black/)

Or if you have the image in your skin directory use image="your_custom_image.png" where your_custom_image.png is in the active skin /img directory
