AWS Backup

Using Jamroom

Seems that something went wrong with setting up AWS backups.

I have these in the error log:
Quote: [07-May-2018 14:41:15 Europe/Dublin] PHP Warning: Error while sending QUERY packet. PID=1672 in /home/jamroom/sites/virti.co/public_html/modules/jrCore-release-6.1.7/lib/mysql.php on line 577 [1]

And a 55MB debug log file!

No other error messages shown. Any idea what might be going on there?

Thanks

Daily Offsite Backups form

Using Jamroom

In the backups module I have entered my details and everything is fine.

Nothing major, but I noticed that if I click on the Hourly Database Backups tab, and then return to the Daily Offsite Backups tab the form fields are all empty.

If I click on the Tools tab and then back to Global Config > Daily Offsite Backups the fields are all populated again. So the values are saved, just not showing after looking at the Hourly tab.

It depends what you want to do.
Zachary Moonshine:
so is it possible to make the site always have the mobile menu?
To make the site always have the mobile menu you would change the css.

Change Notifications To Private Notes?

Using Jamroom

That is a media query, I have no idea if it is the one you are looking for to alter your site though.

Change Notifications To Private Notes?

Using Jamroom

Alter your css to apply the rules from within the mobile breakpoint media query to apply to widescreen.

If you don't know about responsive css search css media query for a starting point.

How to use the notifications dropdown menu - more clarity is needed

Using Jamroom

Some sites have very many notification options for standard users.

It depends on the site.

Is it possible to control who can see comments?

Using Jamroom

SteveX:
Edit the jrComment item_list, index, item_detail and item_index templates, put this on the first line:
{if jrUser_is_logged_in()}
and this on the last:
{/if}
Click Save Changes, then select the template's Active checkbox in the list and click Save Changes
This is what makes it generally useful.

VR / 360 video experiences - any interest?

Off Topic

Anyone interested in this stuff? Or in protest? Strikes? Higher Education?

This is a 360 "experience" created, delivered and hosted on Jamroom code and servers. I shot the 360 and straight video and took the photos whilst on strike from work at University of Bristol.

I'm interested in some feedback on different devices, so if you do take a look please let me know that you have and which device/browser/headset/OS/viewing method you have used.

I'm also interested in what you thought of the "Experience".

Currently some issues with motion sensors on Android using Chrome m65.

It has a "gaze-based cursor" for headsets which also works on browsers, but on browsers you should also be able to click with the mouse or tap with the finger on touch devices.

To get a fullscreen experience (necessary for Cardboard VR mode) iOS phones and small iPads will want to save the safari page using the Share > Add to Home button, and then launch the experience from that. On large iPads I just put up with the browser bar being in place. It only really makes a difference when using a VR headset when it messes with the stereoscopic vision.

Wear headphones or turn the volume up, it does make a difference to the feeling.

Please do let me know what you think, and if you can try it in a Cardboard vr headset please do! I will be testing on Rift / Vive / Playstation etc in the next week or two, how that will go is currently unknowns.

Any and all feedback welcome. The link:
