Development Server Control Panel

Using Jamroom

I finally have the time to setup a development server! Anyway, I downloaded VirtualBox and CentOS (the Linux distro I like) and got everything setup.

The reason I'm posting is that I found a great free control panel to use for my dev server. http://centos-webpanel.com/

It's free and has a ton of options. One of the features I love the most is the ability to use just about any PHP version I want. Couple clicks and I'm using a newer or older version. Great for testing!

It also comes with Varnish... for those who like Varnish.

Elastic Template Demo

Suggestions

Wasn't sure where to post this... is there a demo of the Elastic template? I didn't see one on the demo page.

Thanks!

Testing LAMP?

Jamroom Developers

Thanks. At one point I was using it, but I guess the DO droplet makes more sense.

Testing LAMP?

Jamroom Developers

Do you still have the testing LAMP available? I remember for the old version you had a LAMP image which was great for a testing environment. Is that still available?

I had my profile privacy on, just to check that out. Not that that has anything to do with the email, but when I visited this thread, logged out, none of my posts were showing up only Brian's and Michael's. So, if profile privacy is on I won't show up as someone who posted in a thread to someone who isn't logged in. Maybe you set it up that way... just wanted to let you know.

Freelance Jobs

Suggestions

Hmmm... I didn't get an email stating that there was a reply, which I've gotten before. I have to check what email I'm using for this site.

I guess I should subscribe, it's a small price to pay for all the work you guys have done. Though, anyone who is seriously running a business is going to do a cost outline before starting the project. If they want several mods done and need a price for the mod to know if it's worth it or not would need to spend money to get a quote. Maybe some sort of submission for non-subscribers for legit freelance jobs could be an option.

As someone who runs a forum I totally hear you about the pre-filter. Gotta hate the spam.

Freelance Jobs

Suggestions

I have a couple freelance jobs I would like to get done (modules created), but I saw that only subscribers can list freelance jobs. I'm not sure why the decision was made to only allow subscribers to post freelance jobs. I have money to spend and I'm looking for people to hire. The only thing that gets in the way of that is having to become a member. Not that I'm really opposed to spending $29 a year for the membership because JR is a great script, but I would rather put that money into buying another module for JR or hiring someone to create something specific for the project I'm considering.

I think anyone should be able to request a freelance job. If you want to make money with the subscriptions than make certain modules only available to subscribers - something that can't even be purchased - subscribers only. If I wanted a certain "subscription only" module, 9 chances out of 10, I would pay the subscription to get the module. Requiring someone to pay $29 just to post that they're willing to pay someone for creating something is counterproductive IMHO. Someone posts a job > new developer sees job > decides to start developing for JR > tells all his friends to start using JR > repeat. Right now the aforementioned is blocked at the first step because new members can't even post that they want something done and are willing to pay for it.

Just my thoughts.

Yea, I'm working on setting up one.

Old style community? Not sure what you mean by that. If you're using some sort of advanced forum software which uses another set of features, please elaborate. Besides discourse, which is one of the 'different' forums currently in development, most of the features I would figure would be pretty standard.

Would you consider all the IPB forums out there "Old style communities"?
