I had tried that with this code and it didn't work.
{jrCore_list module="jrAction" search="profile_quota_id = 8" template="business_timeline.tpl"}
the template is just the jrAction's item_index.tpl copied and renamed.

Hi Guys
Is it possible to filter the timeline for only posts from profiles within a certain quota?
For instance $_conf.gmsite_business_quota => "8" holds the quota ID, is it possible to filter using that?
Tried a few ways but no luck yet.

Yeah this might have to be left up to the skin designers, what you could do is include examples of templates with the Slate skin.
One usability feature I think might help is when entering the template name it would auto show a list of available templates as you type. Bit like when you start doing an @ reply etc.

That's the thing thinking over this again its a bit of a mute suggestion at the moment
as currently there isn't a lot you could filter for, but in the future there should be as the timeline evolves. File this one under too much beer last night.

Yes I don't think limiting timeline posts is the correct option here, but how about some sort of filter on the timeline that a user could select, and the admin could set a default filter.

I am not sure if this will ever be truly possible, or maybe I am thinking along the wrong lines. The simple truth is to get truly custom people with have to understand at least some code.
One thought could be look at how the panels are laid out, currently you can only have up to 3 columns through this tool, but the system supports 12.
My advice would be signup for a free trial on www.squarespace.com to see how they handle this sort of thing, it may give you some inspiration.
