Genosis Time Map module changelog
Version 2.0.0b1:
- New: The Time Map uses OpenStreetMap through Leaflet 1.9.4 - no API key or account needed, and the map zooms and pans (wheel, pinch, buttons)
- New: Year slider with play / pause and speed, showing people "born by" or "alive in" the chosen year; people born in the last few years stand out, and pins of people who have died by then fade
- New: Migration lines from each parent's birth place to their child's, with an arrow toward the child - off when the map opens, one click turns them on
- New: "Follow the ancestors of" a person: shows only that person and their ancestors, coloured by generation, with a legend, and opens their life path so the map starts on them
- New: Pin pop-ups with the person's photo, life years, birth and death places, and links to the profile, their life path and their ancestors
- New: Life path: the person's whole Timeline in a window, with every entry that has a place numbered on the map and joined by a line (the person's own migration lines - from their parents' birth places and to their children's - are shown, all others hidden until the window is closed) - also as a small map on the profile Timeline; on phones the map ends above the control bar and the life path window sits above the path
- New: Places are looked up once with OpenStreetMap Nominatim and shared by every event that uses them (the places table, lookups and Places tool are in Genosis Core 2.0.0b1)
- New: Nearby pins are grouped into numbered clusters at low zoom (Leaflet.markercluster 1.5.3) - can be switched off
- New: The map provider (OpenStreetMap, Esri Street Map with English place names, or a custom tile URL) and the place lookup server are set on the Genosis Core "Mapping Provider" Global Config tab
- Change: Positions saved by Time Map 1.x on events (event_lat / event_lon) are kept as places by the Integrity Check, so those places are not looked up again
- Change: Removed the Google Maps API key setting, the Timemap.js / SIMILE / Mapstraction libraries and the Validate Events tool
- Change: Event forms no longer show latitude / longitude fields - a position belongs to the place, not to each event
- Bug Fix: Without a Google API key no location could be found (the MapQuest Nominatim server it fell back to no longer exists), so the Time Map was empty
- Bug Fix: New birth events were never placed on the map unless another event already had the same location
- Bug Fix: A Family Member editing their own birth event removed its map position
- Bug Fix: Changing a birth location kept the old longitude (Albany to Boston saved Boston's latitude with Albany's longitude)
- Bug Fix: The Time Map showed neither a map nor a message when no birth had a position yet
- Bug Fix: Validate Events skipped every location without a comma (e.g. "Kinsale")
