Questions about managing own server
01/19/15 12:29:16PM, by Roy Simmons
Hi Guys, Firstly to say how impressed I have been by the professionalism of the JR folks we have been pestering by email . We are very close to a decision to migrate to JR. Our site paintmyphoto.net on ning 2 has over 100k photos and over 20k members. Paul and Brian have recommended a vps server, Brian has suggested the Linode 4gb which we are happy to go with. https://www.linode.com/pricing Another option as a server management novice, is to go managed, yet this is of course more expensive....

Multiple installations on the same server
11/11/13 07:33:28AM, by maxcinsay
Hello, we have installed a version of jr4 ( http://r2rlive.com/) and a version of jr5 ( http://r2rlive.com/jr5_max/) on our server, we will be migrating everything soon. In the jr5 installation I can access the admin panel, get to the market place section but when I click on of the the modules to install it, I get redirected to http://r2rlive.com/index.php?t=artists (that happens with the free modules). The modules for sale take me to the 'update release system' screen (...

Understanding Server Load and when to upgrade
10/16/16 03:49:46PM, by Xephius
Hey all, I am watching our server usage and has some questions about when to upgrade. Right now we run all our data storage on the local system, but we plan to change the user data store to Amazon so we can cut down on storage costs when we hit that wall. When looking at the Server Load and Memory Usage, at what level of usage should I expect to upgrade?
How to move a production site to a staging server
02/12/18 06:58:00PM, by derrickhand300
Hello-I would like to move a copy of my production site to a new url as a staging site. I have about 10 hours tied up in failed attempts Some of the Docs I have read get "close" https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/documentation/howto/1991/howto-move-jr5-to-a-different-server https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/documentation/howto/4153/howto-clone-one-server-to-another-server But none cover the issue of using a new LIVE URL for the staging server Are there Docs that cover this...

07/22/19 02:27:59PM, by pch
Hello I am having a weird issue after moving my Jamroom site from a server to another VPS. I've followed all the server migration instructions, uploaded the files to the new server and edited the config.php file with the server/database details. Jamroom is installed in a sub-directory but I am having the following error trying to access the site: mysitehere.com/jamroomdirectoryhere/ Forbidden You don't have permission to access /jamroomdirectoryhere/ on this server. Additionally, a 403...

Upcoming Hosting Maintenance - server reboots required
02/28/15 11:02:12AM, by brian
We've just received notification from our hosting provider (Linode) that there is maintenance scheduled on all of our servers to patch 5 critical XEN vulnerabilities (this is the software that runs the servers). These vulnerabilities are going to be "released" on March 10th, so Linode is taking care of this patching before it becomes public (which is a good thing). There is no action needed on your part, but there will be a reboot of your server during the assigned maintenance window....
Recent htaccess -ExecCGI breaks installer on my server
11/03/13 09:16:25AM, by SteveX
" -ExecCGI " in the htaccess breaks something with my server setup. I get 403 Forbidden for anything in the directory or below. What does having this in the htaccess do? Any ideas if there is anything I should change in my server config? Thanks
erroneous disk usage % info for my server?
09/27/16 05:57:09PM, by Strumelia
Hi Team! I'm about to create a second JR site on my JR hosted server, and I increased my server size from 48GB to 96GB earlier today to get the needed space. It went fine and shows that I now AM on the 96 GB server. However, both my ACP dashboard data and my server settings here are still showing my disk usage as: 44% (20.4GB of 46.88GB) ...which is the same as before and shows the 46GB size for the server. I have not put anything new on the server yet. It's been hours now and i've done...
