page not found when clicking more info on marketplace items

Installation and Configuration

Yeah sorry about that - the reason this is happening is that the marketplace does not allow views for PRIVATE marketplace items, and the JR6 beta is being handled via a private channel. We're hoping to be out of JR6 beta really soon, so it shouldn't be an issue much longer.

Thanks!

Reversing the order of replies to forum discussion (newest first)

Using Jamroom

It's important here to understand there is a distinction between modules:

1) Profile Forum - does NOT use the Comments module - has it's own handling. You cannot reverse or change anything without creating a custom module

2) the DICUSSION FORUM module, which is a custom module Paul created for Ning migrants - this DOES use the comments module so will support reversing as well as threaded comments.

If you are using the PROFILE FORUM module then no - you cannot reverse the threads.

Let me know if that helps.

Understanding Server Load and when to upgrade

Using Jamroom

theartsherpa:
When looking at my dashboard, it shows Server Load as 0.04 ranging up to 0.19, what does that correspond to?

A load of 1.00 means your CPU is 100% busy during the time it was checked. Anything OVER 1 and those processes are waiting for CPU time. In your instance this means your CPU has been between 4% and 19% busy.

Quote:
Memory displays as a %, to that is easy to understand. Where can I see the bandwidth usage, I can't find it on the Dashboard.

You can't - Linode does not provide a bandwidth API for us, so we can't show that to you in the dashboard. Since all our servers include unlimited bandwidth hopefully it's not something you need to worry about. If you DO need to know it, you'll have to open a ticket with us so we can check on it in the Linode backend.

Quote:
I believe my issue will be with server load from user activity and storage space for user images.

Just keep an eye on your server dashboard then - we also monitor all hosted servers 24/7 and keep detailed metrics on how every server is performing. In fact we use this information to help us make Jamroom faster and perform better. An example screenshot for your server is attached - it outlines the metrics and checks we are watching on your server. If we see your server is overloaded in any way we also will open a ticket for you and recommend an upgrade.

Let me know if that helps.

Can de-activated members continue sending private notes if still logged in?

Using Jamroom

researchcooperative:
I wonder of handling the content of blocked users and departed users with invalid email accounts are related matters?
For some sites, it may be desirable to be able keep all content as an archived record. For others, it may be necessary to clean out the cupboards. Here are some possible scenarios.
Blocked members
1. Block but keep all approved content visible.
Set the User Account to inactive.

researchcooperative:
2. Block and keep all content in archive.

Set the Profile inactive as well.

researchcooperative:
3. Block and discard all content.

Delete the profile but keep the user account inactive. You can also block the IP/email address in the Banned Items module.

researchcooperative:
Departed members
1. Close account but keep all content visible, and mark the author as a "respected former member".
2. Close account and keep all content in archive.
3. Close account and discard all content.

All these are the same as above. Jamroom already supports all these scenarios, so you're good.

Can de-activated members continue sending private notes if still logged in?

Using Jamroom

Strumelia:
new-to-jamroom site owners are going to assume that making the member 'inactive' with the checkbox is going to prevent them from doing ANYTHING on the site.
This should not be an issue post-JR6 - it will be very clear how to BLOCK a user account versus simply making the profile OR user "inactive" (which while in your case is simply used to prevent users from logging in, has other uses in multi-profile and multi-user scenarios).

Thanks!

michael:
Groups created by that user will still show.
Guess they shouldn't though. Finding bugs before features are released, too good strumelia.

This "bug" is only found in Core 6.0.0b3 - it's already fixed for the next beta release.

Design and Skin Customization

Since you won't answer me by telling me what VERSION of the core you are running, I am going to assume you are running 5.4.0b4, which has a bug in it in regards to this.

User Moderator Settings Best Practices

Using Jamroom

Strumelia:
I believe to access system settings you must be a Master Admin quota...and I'm guessing such a powerful quota would also naturally include being able to modify members/profiles and all their content.

Correct - however there's no "master admin quota". Master Admins (and Profile Admins) have a special value for their user_group key:

"admin" - profile admin like you outlined above - can modify all PROFILE information, and has access to the dashboard to help "run" the site.
"master" - user is a master admin and has unrestricted access to the site, including everything an "admin" can do. Has access to the ACP to change how the entire site functions.

Let me know if that helps.
