Alpha Team Guidelines

We're here :) We've got quite a bit of activity going on in our private chat channel (as you guys assumed) - we're online quite a bit though, so feel free to jump into the Alpha team channel on chat.

We're in the internal testing phase for our new "Follow Me" skin - it's really cool with a lot of new features, so we have a lot of testing that is going on - hoping to have it ready for you guys REALLY soon.

Adding Tags Using Form Designer

Design and Skin Customization

Just create a "select" custom form field with the tags as you want them to be - the user can then select the tag they want on the create/update form.

Let me know if that helps.

User Sign Up Form

Installation and Configuration

Keith Mauck:
When you assign a profile question to a particular quota, shouldn't that question pop up after that quota is selected by the user on the sign up form?

Yeah unfortunately this does not work this way - the "signup questions" are really only used by Ning converts, and it's not something our core User module supports.

For now I would just give the quota option during signup - you can even make them have descriptive quota names - and then have your signup questions be part of their user info. I know that's not ideal, but is what is supported.

Admin 2 Login in as user

Suggestions

I can see how this would be a good idea, but it's not something easily added to JR. For now you would just want to create a login account you can login and check on.

Advanced analytics

Jamroom Developers

DannyA:
No. I'm not even sure how that relates to my question.

It's completely relevant - it would allow your profiles to have their own full Google Analytics.

Is the cron server REQUIRED?

Using Jamroom

DannyA:
Do queue clients still get jobs if the server isn't registered in the cron server?

It depends - if you want to NOT use the cron server, you will need to come up with a suitable replacement for what it does. The whole purpose of the cron server is to send "ping" requests to your backend queue worker servers that would not otherwise get any "hits" on the server. Since JR's queue workers are web processes, we need some way to kick off the queue processes on a back end server. This is what the cron server does. It pings the back end queue servers every X (configurable) seconds and says "wake up and check for new queue entries that you need to work".

So you could replicate that using regular cron, but the cron server works really well for that purpose so I would recommend using it.

Using Jamroom

If you are running a version of Jamroom 5, you can find the version in the following file near the top of the file (in the "meta" function):

modules/jrCore/include.php

If you are running Jamroom 4 you can find it in:

include/jamroom-include.inc.php

near the top where it says "version".

Note that we no longer support Jamroom 4.

Let me know if that helps.

Jamroom Core 6.0.0 beta 1

Hey everyone - please reload the Core beta 1 from your Marketplace - found a bug in the DS functions that could result in items getting the wrong _profile_id if there are more than 500 items in a DS.

Let me know if you see any issues.

Jamroom Core 6.0.0 beta 1

I've tweaked this a bit to show the "bonus" you get from being multiple CPU - here's a screenshot from my Macbook pro. Let me know if that looks good.
