Moving Profiles to a Different Tree

Genosis

lisa:
Hello! There are some profiles I would like to move to another tree. I open up their profile and make sure the check box for ancestors is checked, and then click the tree to move them to. Does their profile still remain on the original tree at all?

No - the profile and all the ancestors are moved to the other tree.

Quote:
I am also finding that some profiles simply refuse to move to another tree. Any suggestions? Thanks! Lisa

I've not seen that before, but my guess is something is silently failing - check the PHP Error Logs in your Activity Logs section and see if you see any issues there.

Hope this helps!

Cron server error

Using Jamroom

So the "cron worker" runs on the cron server - it's basically the process that does the "pinging" of the remote server. It can take up to 60 seconds for the cron worker to settle in to it's routine, but that's about the max of it. I've never seen it not work - the only thing I can think of is that the server is overloaded and Apache is killing processes (which includes the cron worker).

Aparna Suggestions

Suggestions

gary.moncrieff:
Hey Guys

To my display I discovered these arent setup with support for search out of the box, for the purpose of one module on my site in the end I cloned the blog module and added things to that.

If possibe it would be great to have those hooks in place from the outset, but if not how about another lesson in the Udemy development course and how to enable Search for Aparna modules?

You can add any fields you want for any DS module to the "additional search fields" search -> global config textarea. So just add the DS keys you want to be searched in your Aparna module to that list.

Hope this helps!

Form Designer Suggestions

Suggestions

gary.moncrieff:
Not seeing anything in error log so it might have been a temporary server thing.

Just to add some of these field types would make developing modules easier too.

On this note if one has added fields to a module via form designer, and then packages and exports the module, do all the fields get added to the modules index.php file so that when someone installs it all the fields are set?

They are not added to the site's index.php file (the developer tools can't write into the PHP code like that) but if you check the "Export Form Designer" option when packaging a module, they are written out to a JSON file that is imported.

Let me know if that helps.

Issues with Image Gallery

Genosis

aedross:
I installed the module. Activated it. Then I uploaded a photo to a gallery. Photo uploaded, when I clicked on the photo in the gallery, it loads and loads, the browser gives an error message.

What I noticed is that the photo file had an extra jpg extension, photo1.jpg.jpg

I deactivated the gallery module, uninsulated it, ran the clean cache and integrity checks.

When I reinstalled, under the media menu the gallery appears, but no where can I see the tab to insert a gallery and upload photos. I emailed my log on details earlier, I can do so again for you to please have a look. Thanks

Yeah something is not right there - makes me think the module did not get fully installed properly (although the marketplace checks for this). Try this:

- go into the info tab for the gallery module and delete it
- re-install it from the marketplace and try again

If you see this same issue again, shoot me your login info to support [at] jamroom [dot] net so I can check it out - the Gallery module is a really widely used module and I've never seen this before.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks!

Feedback please for jamroom.net site flow

Using Jamroom

Strumelia:
Last thing I'll say today-
Main page... what's one of the top 3 most awesome things about Jamroom?

The Jamroom Support Team!!!!!
Dont be shy- have something on your main page about "Our Support Team is second to none": Read what our users are saying..." and then link it to a page with quotes about the support service, from people like US- using our user names and a link to our live JR sites. Happy to add mine. Get a dozen of these customer happy quotes on one page for people to see and read.
Keep in mind that ning is dying a slow death from cutting off their customers...turning their backs on us all. We are looking for platform that has an active and present and caring customer support Team. Your main page has not a single word about that, yet you do it better than anyone on earth. It's a HUGE factor when people are considering a major site decision or site migration.

That's a great point - thanks for that!
