How to Include "Add to Timeline" for Forum/Create when posting as Admin?

Using Jamroom

Newly created profile/forum discussions by Admin are NOT appearing in their own profile page timelines either (though subsequent posts are)...same for both jr 5 and 6.

How to Include "Add to Timeline" for Forum/Create when posting as Admin?

Using Jamroom

My two sites - one still on jr5, one on jr6...
They both still have this related issue:

I use a 'profile forum' for my site main Forum.
I have things set so that most actions or items that any Admins create or comments/posts on WILL appear in the IndexMain page activity Timeline. This seems to all work fine on both my sites EXCEPT for when an Admin creates a new Forum topic/thread.
Once I create the thread and if I then make an 'additional' post in that thread, the new post will appear in the main page Timeline. But for this specific instance: any Admin when they first CREATE a new Forum thread- it never appears in the main page site Timeline. I really need it to appear when I or one of my moderators CREATE a new forum discussion, not just when we post to the thread later on.
I've tested this on FF and Chrome, and have cleared cache, etc.
I thought I had this fixed up at some point on my jr% live site, but it's currently not working on either my jr5 or jr6 site. Am thinking I had this instance working already...so maybe it stopped working due to some update?...not sure, but it's not currently working on my jr6 site either.

Important: I want to clarify that YES when I as Admin go to CREATE a new forum thread on either site, I 'DO' see the "include in timeline" checkbox there, and it IS checked by default!-- but the new thread still won't appear in the timeline on the main page, despite the checkbox being checked by default.

Question about Cometchat and PHP7

Using Jamroom

Perry- my chat is used both morning and night by about average a dozen members every day- those people change over time.
See a screenshot of my chat here: https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/forum/new_posts/46917/auto-join-main-chat-room but note I have changed the colors to match my site, in my CC admin settings.

If i were you, I'd upgrade to php7 first to see if your chat breaks. Why? because I dn't necessarily believe what CC support tells me. If it breaks then pursue getting them to upgrade to 5.7. It's quite possible it'll just keep working fine.
Worse case scenario is that you'll be without a chat for a week or two. Best case scenario is that you can avoid having to deal with getting them to upgrade you again and get everything working right on the newer version.
Cat food: sorry, we have a snowstorm going on (ugh). You'll have to give your cats cheerios or something.

Question about Cometchat and PHP7

Using Jamroom

michael:
JR5 to JR6 will not effect comet chat at all. php5 to php7 may have though.

Just to confirm- I heard back from my 'chat moderator' just now who is on chat several times a day. He says he has not seen any problems at all since I moved to php7 like what...two weeks ago now? But that's with my older CC Premium version, not the jrModule CC Basic version.
Just for your info.

Perry- If you log into your CC Admin Panel on JR (where you can edit your chat settings)...it tells you your version number in giant text. When you say you 're-bought' CC... did you buy the $49 jr module's Basic version?...or did you buy the 50% off newer version of Premium (which is decidedly more expensive)? My policy is if it aint broke don't fix it. I dont really need the fancy stuff on CC's newer versions anyway, thus I stuck with what i had working correctly on my site- it is still working fine, at least on JR 5. It's only like a year old anyway. I'll know after I move to JR 6 whether my older Premium version still works fine- I suspect it will and Michael says he feels it will be fine as well.

Auto Join main chat room

Using Jamroom

Micheal- the info about the [ ] brackets is good to know!
But in any case, if there's no visual interface to be able to see and choose a smiley from my Smileys module, then i'd not be able to switch my members to the JR chat anyway. And the new site members would not 'know' the smiley codes to be able to use them either. That leaves it with basically a smiley function of :) and :( ...stuff people type automatically without even intending a smiley. -I know that'd be more than enough for a 'serious' site of developers, charity, shopping, or work organization, etc...but it wouldn't be sufficient on fun 'social club' networks like mine.
Thanks for your time and knowledge though!
-and enjoy that warm gorgeous weather!

Question about Cometchat and PHP7

Using Jamroom

I didn't notice any talk on the chat log on my site about problems with the chat function- one of my moderators is on chat every day, twice a day...and has not so far reported any issues to me.
Should be noted that I'm 'not' on the Basic CC version that comes via the jr Cometchat module...I'm on an older Premium CC version. I'm on the JR php7 for the past week or two already.
