How to delete a large number of Profile/User AND their content?

Using Jamroom

Brian- yes understood. This is a housekeeping type chore that might be done only once after importing from Ning, or once a year, or once every several years, depending on the type of site and how quickly one accumulates members and content. But it could translate to saving significant costs over time in server size- especially if one's members tend to add lots of bulky content.

Paul- I know I/we did some filtering of members like this about 6 months after I went live from Ning. I wanted to get rid of all members who had not logged into my new site after 6 months of reminders.
But I think it was you who arranged the specific details of how it was done, and I can't find a custom module for it on my site. Did we not simply do a one-time deletion of all users who had " -" as their last login date?...I think that's what you helped me get done. And yes I DO remember a 'dry run' thing where I was able to remove some cherished gone members from the list targeted for deletion.
BUT- I don't recall that I had (or have) the ability to punch in a new last login DATE and do the same now, going forward... if I do then it must be a tool somewhere that I can't find, since I don't seem to have a custom module for this. Unless I'm just not seeing it...but looked under all my module categories just now.

How to delete a large number of Profile/User AND their content?

Using Jamroom

Paul, that would be a FANTASTIC tool for site owners- to be able to easily delete all members and their content who have not logged into the site since a specified date that we can set...or who have never logged in since joining (those showing a 'last login' date of " - "). This would allow us to keep our sites fresh and relevant without getting weighed down by people who moved on years ago.

One note though- we'd need to be able to look over all the members targeted for removal and remove a few before deletion, because for example there might be some deceased members with important older content that we want to remain on the site...and we may not recall those until we see them on the removal target list. I have one or two valued members per year who pass away, and some of them have content I want to make an exception of and keep. Over time this list of people slowly grows. 'Departed but still valuable' members.

Oh, of course- thank you so much! Just happy to get this potential template issue patched up without my possibly making a mess of it in my move to jr6.
I just purchased a new domain name for that test whistle site anyway, and am waiting for the linode name server redirects to kick in so that I can then switch that new site to the real domain name... probably after upgrading that whistle site to jr6. I'm not under any deadline.
Thank you very much- I know you guys are very very busy and I so much appreciate your kind help.

hi Michael,
I have not updated to jr6 yet....so the activity feed on both sites in jr5 is indeed displaying correctly --as it has been for a year. I've not started the jr6 update yet.

- As I understood Brian's last post above, he said he was going to move a pair of added DIVs from my active custom skin so that he could eliminate one template from my skin that wouldn't then be needed... or something like that... and that once he did this I wouldn't need to do any other template modifications when moving to jr6. I don't think he has made this adjustment on my sites yet though- since that skin template is still there... I'm not really sure but I was waiting for him to say he had done the adjustment to both my jr sites on my server. I'm not quite clear on what he was going to do, or else I would have done it myself already. but he explained it above in his last post.
Thanks!

Group Invitations

Using Jamroom

This issue of wanting Admins to be able to actually officially 'join' a Group and be seen by members as being in the member list was discussed off and on almost a year and a half ago, when Jamroom was just in the midst of creating the Groups feature for us Ning refugees...prior to that Jamroom did not have a Groups feature.
Makes for an interesting read and a trip down Memory Lane as well... ;)

brian:
Let me know if you'd like me to do that for you - would only take me about 2 minutes to do, and then the JR6 upgrade should be painless for you, as there are no other template modifications needed.

Brian, were you able to find the time to do this for my the two JR sites i have on my server?
Thanks so much... !

Brian, if/when you apply this, can you be sure that the change you make is in my current NEW Active custom skin?- I just today cloned a new custom skin with the name of Dec4 for both my sites...and that's the skin clone I have active and want to use now when moving to jr6. Thank you...!

Brian- of course YES, that would be terrific!
If you wouldn't mind, I would need this done as well on my other test site on my server too: http://pennywhistlerscom.jamroomhosting.com/
( and my access info and password is the same for that site)

I do know that I customized my index page activity timeline to NOT show two things:
new Follower notices...and new comments on peoples' profile page comment walls.

I also somehow got Admin actions TO SHOW up in the index page timeline, but not sure if that was done in that template or even if it was done in my custom skin.

I'd want to not lose the above three modifications i made to my site in the activity feed for the main page.

Big hug to you!
