hiding profile info on my Profile Forum pages (again)

Using Jamroom

I know I accomplished this 'somehow' a year and a half ago, and I did a giant search looking here on the forums for the info...alas.

I use a Profile Forum to house my site's discussion forums. I've named that profile "Forums" and given it its own quota. I somehow set it so that most of the "Forums" profile info did not show when people were in the various pages of my site forums.
Now I'm building a second JR site off a clone of my first site, and for some reason that setting did not duplicate over when I cloned my entire site.

I've looked in dozens of places on my site, but need help with where/how to adjust that setting for my new site please.
Here is screenshot of my main live site, where the profile forum's profile is named "forums"...this page for example is on: (site.com)/forums/forum

This is how I WANT it to look:

changing background color of menu bar subtabs?

Design and Skin Customization

Did it! Thanks ever so much Michael and Douglas!

Wasn't too sure about changing all those "background:" gradient settings in the #menu UL area, and it wasn't working if I didn't change them, so I wound up making those gradients blend from my color to ...the same color... lol. Dumb maybe, but it worked.

Love the new look, and have always wondered how i could change it since it wasn't right there in the ACP style css settings and wasn't sure what to look for. :D

Development environments and cloning live sites

Jamroom Hosting

If you are on Jamroom hosting and have less than half your server space free (or temporarily switch to a larger server), you can create another (dummy) domain on your Jamroom server and then use the tools available to you in your Hosting Control Panel ( https://www.jamroom.net/(yourJR.netname)/hosting/dashboard) to copy the existing site to the new one, as long as your server has more than double the space you're already using.
Also read this thread which has more tips about creating the 'cloned' site on your server to play around on:

How do you backup a skin?

Using Jamroom

Backing up your skin is great, but it does not back up any of your site content. Skins help control how your site looks and acts, but they don't store your site content such as documents, pages, photos, discussions, member profiles, etc. Backing up your SITE means backing up everything on your server including all member content- but that's a different subject for a different thread. Now that you know how to back up your SKIN, you could mark this thread as 'solved'. :)

How do you backup a skin?

Using Jamroom

I'm happy to hear that, Perrie! :)
Just to be clear- by following my previous post instructions, you only made a copy (clone) of your SKIN, not a copy of your SITE (as you put it) or its contents. You'll want to make a skin clone every once in a while and keep track of any skin clones you want to hold onto for safekeeping. Old clones no longer needed can be deleted. Always be sure to clone your active skin for safekeeping before making any significant change to your active skin. If your change works out well, you can then go ahead and delete the safety clone.
And you'll also want to hang onto and KEEP updating your original Jamroom 'mother skin'- in my case that's the Ningja skin. That way you can pull any newly added cool features from it and try adding them to your active custom skin (after making a safekeeping clone/copy of course).

changing background color of menu bar subtabs?

Design and Skin Customization

Thank you Michael!
But to clarify things in my head, may I ask-

1) if I need to make it a specific color, say #979D9B which is a light grey, then instead of a word, like "green" or "navy", I'd put :
#menu ul a:hover {
    background-color:  #979D9B;
...correct?
And I would NOT be changing the line at all where it says:
color: #0FB1DD;
...right?

and 2) I'm seeing your post above in the second location change within the
#menu ul
area, ...do I change to my #979D9B color where it says "background:" OR where it says "background-color:" ? (since you showed me both of those) I'm GUESSING I'm supposed to change only the line in that section where it says "background-color"...and not the "background:" gradient etc line ?

changing background color of menu bar subtabs?

Design and Skin Customization

Hi Michael,
It seems the setting for this specific item is not available in the Style tab of ACP.... no menu.css option there.

So... I looked at my menu.css file in my active skin via ftp.
There, I see the following code under where you indicate:
#menu ul a:hover {
    background-color: #111;
    background-image: -moz-linear-gradient(#111, #000);
    background-image: -webkit-linear-gradient(#111, #000);
    background-image: -o-linear-gradient(#111, #000);
    background-image: -ms-linear-gradient(#111, #000);
    background-image: -webkit-gradient(linear, left top, left bottom, from(#111), to(#000));
    background-image: linear-gradient(#111, #000);
    color: #0FB1DD;

I tried substituting my color #code for the top one #111, but it did not seem to do the trick.
Are you able to say which of the above css #color numbers is the one to change the black link hover to a different color? See screenshot...

As someone not logged in, I don't see "record" anywhere there. Do you mean along the very top of the page, menu bar, like the drop-down menu under Blogs and Calendar ?
