New Jamroom Hosting Features Questions

Jamroom Hosting

Ok, thanks Michael!
So quick question then as to option #2 above:
I have both fotmd.com and http://fotmdcom.jamroomhosting.com/
My main live site is on the plain domain the first one. But when I go to the secondary domain (.jamroomhosting.com) I see my complete main live site there as well. So... is that mirrored site merely a duplicate that I would remove from my fotmdcom.jamroomhosting.com/ domain and then I would build a test JR site their instead? Or would deleting the one then delete my main live site on both domains? (which I obviously DON'T, want to do)
I notice I curently have the secondary domain not active- would I see something different when going there if I make it 'active' like my primary domain?- or can I only have one of them Active at any given time?
thanks!

How do I remove Follow from my Community profile?

Using Jamroom

There's also the "Profile Exclude" Module:
https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/networkmarket/243/profile-exclude

I have only one profile activated in that Exclude module: ID # 2 which is the single profile I created to 'own' my site Forum. It's in its own quota, and I named that profile "Forums" (with an S). Thus, when a member clicks on the main menu link for Forums, they get taken to: http://mysite.com/forums/forum

but i think you still need to do what Micheal suggests, as it will have broader application for what you want to achieve.

Here are more in depth details outlining what the Profile Exclude module does and doesn't do:
https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/documentation/modules/3899/profile-exclude
(Hope I'm not just confusing things)

New Jamroom Hosting Features Questions

Jamroom Hosting

Just asking so that others will be clear on it- if I have a hosted JR server that allows more than 1 domain and site...and I have 1 domain and JR site on it already but have room for another... 2 questions:

1) any other sites i put on my JR server HAVE to be Jamroom platform based sites, not just any other kind of site I want to build, or parked storage stuff I want to put there on the server if I have room...right? All sites on the JR servers must be JR platform sites, correct?

2) Again if I have the space and am allowed another site on my JR server .... what if I want to play around with building a new JR site based on a skin and modules I am allowed for free but without actual members (aside from me and some test members I create) and not live... does it need to actually be on a domain (yeah i know dumb question)- so do I need to register another domain just for building a new JR site that may never go live, that I just want to do design testing/building on? (I'm assuming you can't have two totally separate JR sites on one domain, correct?)
thanks for any info on this :)

Ning Endangered?

Off Topic

"I don't care that my friends aren't into what I'm into, but just want updates on what it is I'm interested in even if it doesn't come from someone I know."

This is an important reason why social network communities are still needed as opposed to just FB. FB has too much noise to signal ratio.

Stymied by Site Builder

Using Jamroom

LesRinchen:
I also want to show latest images posted OR commented upon. I think I've got it now showing latest posted (ordered by _created) but that won't bring to the front an old photo that gets a new comment. Is there a way to do so? Should ordering by _updated do that?

I would think this "OR" would cause the two things to fight against each other- I'd think you have to choose: order images by either the most recently added image, OR by images with the most recent comments. Or else have a separate gallery for each of those two 'ordered by' factors.
On most sites I see, gallery images are usually shown by most recent images posted, and the latest Comments posted on items (including latest comments on images) all show up in the main page Activity Feed/Timeline.

OOooooooo. I had not notice the Admin validation option. I'm blind!

You should know that while I was stumbling around slowly trying to learn how to put my site together, I used to repeat a favorite old saying to myself:

Even the blind hog finds an acorn now and then.

Elise:
First thing that was really obvious: my users don't go into pending (like yours), they go into members.
I need to change the quota that allows sign up, it looks like. Yay, first improvement!

I just approved your membership in my site Elise- just try not to post a bunch of off topic stuff ...or my moderators will think you're suspicious and they might de-activate you first and ask questions later. ;D
P.S. good to create a Private Group and just invite your moderators and Admins in- a place to discuss site issues or troublesome members freely.

Elise, I think you might have quite a few similar questions like this- so I'd like to suggest you join my site temporarily so that you can see what a regular member can and can't do on my site. That way if you want to duplicate onto your site some function or setting you see on my site that you don't have yet, we'd have a specific thing pinpointed already. Please feel free to join my site to experience it as a normal member: http://fotmd.com/ ...I can always delete you later. If you use the name Elise I'll know who you are and approve you right away. Don't worry about answering the application questions correctly- just choose any answer, I'll approve you.
If you prefer not to do this, no worries! :)
