I struggled for a while (came from Ning 2.0 a year ago). My site is doing GREAT on Jamroom and I love it.

Every day I learn a bit more here and there about running my site and tweaking code. I'm no coder by far, but I am learning slowly to manage my site and my codes myself....and the JR support team is just wonderful. I know so much more now as compared to a year ago, I get myself into trouble waaaay less often than I used to. ;)
Jamroom just keeps getting better and better by leaps and bounds.

New 'Group Mailer' Module

Roy, you have to go to the module's Quota configuration tab and allow the different quotas to be able to access this ability ...or not.
Since most of my site's groups were created by either myself or my moderators, I have enabled the module function only for my MasterAdmin and Moderator quotas. You can enable it for all your members however.

Once you 'save' your module settings, if a member whose quota is enabled for the feature has a group they created, then they'll see this pencil BUTTON when on their group's main page:

"If this option is checked, when an item is deleted that has associated created and updated Timeline entries, the Timeline entries will be deleted as well. "

Whoa, i've been wishing for this for a long time- I just checkmarked the option and tested it, and it works great. Now when one of my members posts something lame that I need to delete, I don't have to also go into the Timeline Database to delete that entry as well so it doesn't show on my main page...the deleted item's Activity feed mention is deleted automatically. (note- you have to check the new option box if you want this to happen, in the Timeline Module)

A terrific little improvement/update- happy dance!

The Ning platform continues to awkwardly lurch towards its demise, so it couldn't hurt to have the JR showcase spruced up for visitors. :)

FWIW, I think Curtis @derrickhand300 made a contact button for all the members on his site.

Having a button on a profile page for messaging another member would certainly be easier for members than typing an auto-fill username into the private note system -it does take them a little while to figure it out. And the button would appear only for members who are 'following' each other if you have that setting enabled. Or perhaps even better, the button could also prompt you to complete the follow/contact circle if you haven't already with that person.

A contact form is a nice idea. Another very minimalist method of allowing visitors to contact you is to put this in the footer.tpl of your active skin (this one inserts "Site Question" as the email subject, and the text of the footer hotlink reads "CONTACT site owner"). I've placed it directly underneath the footer text line that says "copyright 2016 mysite.com" :

Disappearing edit and delete icons in comment boxes

Yes I am getting the same Lorna- in Group discussion, I do as you said and it produces the glitch.
BUT- it won't do it if I merely hover my cursor over the comment while refreshing- to produce the glitch i have to hit refresh and quickly TOUCH my cursor on the existing comment text and leave it there ...when the page loads the icons are gone, and will show again only when i move my cursor AWAY from comments. Once that happens I cannot edit, quote, or delete any comment in the group discussion until I again refresh the page...then the icons behave normally again and I can click on them.

I believe Soaring Eagle was having this issue as well, BTW.

I get an error when i try to 'like' any of the sites in the Showcase. A popup just says "Jamroom.net has encountered an error in saving the Like".

Curtis can you remember what the site's theme was...was it a music site or something else?
