Question regarding text editor and quoting

Using Jamroom

Yayyyyyyy!!!!! The new jrComments update 1.6.1 gives us the Quote button in all Group discussions and all site-wide Comments on comment walls, photos, vids, audio clips, etc.

This is GREAT, and such a nice touch. Seems to be working great on my site.
thaaaaaank youuuuuu !!! =8-)

Steps to make the final move?

Ning To Jamroom

I think there is no red flag over 'spamming' as long as your mailgun invalid bounces are less than 4%... or maybe 5%.

I created a quota (cloned off of my regular member quota) called Invalid Email. In my Kickbox module, I have it set to validate/check 75 or 100 member email addresses per day (I think 100 per day is the maximum for free). I then chose the 'action' for invalid results: to Unsubscribe that member (from notifications and newsletters etc) and to MOVE them to the Invalid email Quota.
Ideally, if all this were done before you go live, you could then send out your temp password Invite to your Member Quota, which would NOT send it to the members in your Invalid Email quota. This would reduce your bounce rate whenever you send out a notice to all your members. Later on you can decide what to do with the members in that invalid email quota.
I would definitely set up that quota and pay the small fee to kickbox-validate all your member addresses right now- then you could totally avoid any spam suspension and subsequent embarrassment when trying to go live. ;)

And yeah definitely send out a test email! I asked SIX trusted members to help me test. I put them temporarily into a NEW Quota I made call TEST. I then sent my test password email notice out to ONLY that quota of six people. I watched them log in from my Dashboard...so cool. They posted and said Hi, this is cool!...lol. They knew they might need to reset their password again later. Then i put them back in the regular member quota and thanked them. This was very reassuring to me before i did the REAL thing with my 5000 members. !

Email Delivery Log to the RESCUE! :)

Using Jamroom

Through Mailgun logs, I had already known for over a month that there was a problem delivering email notifications to one of my site members, I'll call him "George", but it didn't really say much about why, so I assumed maybe it was a Jamroom issue. But when i looked at the new Email Delivery Log tool (available to those of us on Jamroom hosting) last week, it went into greater detail concerning delivery failure. It spelled out the fact that George's email server was blocking all mail from my site and IP address as 'mass mailings'. So I then sent George a screenshot, and advised him to ask his provider to stop blocking mail from my site, and to SHOW them the screenshot. He had not even been aware that anything was wrong, aside from feeling dejected when his private notes to other members went 'unanswered'.

A couple days later i looked in the email log again, and it was very obvious that George had indeed contacted his provider, in fact it showed the exact hour that his provider stopped blocking his notifications from my site...see this awesome screenshot I've attached here below. I wrote George again and showed him how he would now be getting all those notifications and private Messages that had been getting blocked all this time. Awesome! Apparently he had been missing out on many site notifications per week, including lots of private messages failing to reach him...yikes! It feels very satisfying to now be able to investigate in depth and resolve this kind of problem for my members.

But wait, there's MORE! the day after George's notifications woes were fixed, I was very surprised and delighted to get a Paypal notice that George had quietly donated $100 towards my site costs. Awesome!

So a big THANK YOU to the Jamroom gentlemen for providing this GREAT new tool that helps me pinpoint notification issues even more accurately than my Mailgun logs. Yaaaaay!!

Brian, I see the code in my jrComments module: in jrComment/item_list.tpl (1.6.0), and I can add it to my own custom one.
But do I need to try to do this as well in my custom active skin item_list.tpl ? or should I leave that template alone?

I notice I have an item_list.tpl in my custom active skin as well, so will this conflict? Should I do it in both item_list.tpl templates? (the one in my Comments module and the one in my active skin)

Do i put that right in the jrComments module item_list.tpl template, NOT in a template in my custom skin...correct? (because I notice I have an item_list.tpl in my custom active skin as well)

Where exactly do I insert this in the item_list.tpl template code?

Hmm, if it's just a display issue, then why would there be no trace of the attachment in the html code of the finished post?
