'De-activate Member' has glitch.

Using Jamroom

Here's something that I suspect ought to be fixed-
Say a member turns ugly and posts something nasty while the site owner is away. Your moderators are instructed to merely de-activate (uncheck the 'profile active' box) their profile until you can get back and see what the person did and gather their account information so you can add it to the 'banned' module lists.
The mods know that when a member is de-activated, only the admins can see their profile, content, and posts...the de-activated member will be INVISIBLE to regular logged in members.

HOWEVER- it appears to me that they are completely VISIBLE to anyone not logged in...site member or not. So that means both casual browsing visitors and members who are going to the site in order to log in, will SEE everything posted by Icky Member. until they log in.

This seems very undesireable/unintended to me. Can it be adjusted?
Thanks!

OMG...Just got off the phone from CANCELING my Ning networks..it's DONE! I'm FREEE!!

My new Jamroom site (at fotmd.com) is terrific and hopping busy, my members couldn't care less about our old outdated ning site anymore...it was a total ghost town for the past couple weeks anyway. Cue: one lone tumbleweed blowing through...

Such a pleasure dealing with the wonderful Jamroom Team...they are REAL people offering REAL service and REAL support with a smile. A breath of fresh air.

BOOOOOOO for NingGlamMode!!!!
Good riddance to the BAD RUBBISH of the evil Glam corporate empire that totally turned its back on all its customers for the past two and a half years.

YAAAAAY for Jamroom!!!! They SAVED my 3900 member online community, which is THE largest online site on the entire internet dedicated to the American mountain dulcimer musical instrument, and those who play it.
Doing happy dance..... :D

Spellchecker installing for tinyMCE...what am I doing wrong?

Using Jamroom

Michael, am I understanding correctly from that site you linked to, that their spellchecker would cost my $79 to use on my one domain?

Spellchecker installing for tinyMCE...what am I doing wrong?

brian:
Don't browsers pretty much all have spell check in them now?

I have an up to date Firefox spellchecker, have it enabled and checked. It's actively functioning right now as i type this sentence in this text box....but it does not function in our site's tinymce editor text boxes. (neither does cut/copy/paste except as keyboard commands, but that's another tale)

Spellchecker installing for tinyMCE...what am I doing wrong?

Using Jamroom

I suspect some of these 'forum/discussion' function issues will increasingly come to the fore as more ex-Ning users get on board Jamroom. Many Ning networks do a whole lot of interactive discussion (yakking) as compared to, say, a business or a band site in general.
Bass players probably don't care much about spelling. (runs ducking for cover...lol)

Any chanmcewe can gett htis ? :)

Spellchecker installing for tinyMCE...what am I doing wrong?

Using Jamroom

Hi all,
As per this (now closed) thread on installing a spellchecker plugin into my text editor tinyMCE:
https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/forum/suggestions/24151/no-spellcheck-im-surprised
...and referencing this instruction page:
http://www.tinymce.com/wiki.php/Plugin:spellchecker
The above page seemed to not have any downloadable plugin, but seemed to suggest i simply add the word "spellchecker" to the code in my Core template...so that's what i tried. Yeah, i know...pretty lame. Probably shouldn't be even trying this on my own. =8-\

I put the following code into my core_form_editor tpl as best as I could figure, cleared cache, but no spellchecker function seems to activate or be seen.
Can anyone suggest what i am doing wrong? I'm really just taking my best guess as to how the code needed to be added.
I added the "spellchecker" bit here to the two lines for "plugins" and "toolbar1":
{jrCore_module_url module="jrCore" assign="murl"}
tinymce.init({
    body_id: "{$form_editor_id}",
    content_css: "{$jamroom_url}/{$murl}/css/{$murl}/jrCore_tinymce.css?v={$_mods.jrCore.module_version}",
    toolbar_items_size : "small",
    element_format: "html",
    autoresize_bottom_margin: "3",
    keep_styles: false,
    theme: "{$theme}",
    selector: "textarea#{$form_editor_id}",
    relative_urls: false,
    remove_script_host: false,
    convert_fonts_to_spans: true,
    menubar: false,
    statusbar: false,
    paste_as_text: true,
    entity_encoding: "raw",
    height: "100%",
    image_advtab: true,
    plugins: "contextmenu,pagebreak,{if $jrsmiley}jrsmiley,{/if}{if $jrembed}jrembed,media{/if},image,autoresize,{if $table}table,{/if}link,code,fullscreen,textcolor,colorpicker,spellchecker,preview",
    toolbar1: "formatselect | fontselect forecolor {if $strong} bold{/if}{if $em} italic{/if}{if $span} underline{/if} | {if $span || $div} alignleft{/if}{if $span || $div} aligncenter{/if}{if $span || $div} alignright{/if}{if $span || $div} alignjustify |{/if}{if $ul && $li} bullist numlist |{/if}{if $div} outdent indent |{/if} undo redo | link unlink anchor pagebreak | spellchecker |{if $table} table{/if} | {if $hr} hr{/if}{if $sub && $sup} | sub sup {/if} | code preview fullscreen{if $jrembed || $jrsmiley} |{/if}{if $jrembed} jrembed{/if}{if $jrsmiley} jrsmiley{/if}",
    contextmenu: "link image | cut copy paste"
});

test site migrating 3.0 ning site

Ning To Jamroom

Yep- I just asked him. I want to be sure it's not some spam hack thing. Maybe he's just trying to gauge the interest in his new project.

email notifications with pagination enabled issues

Ning To Jamroom

This issue is causing more complaints than any other on my site now. I can see why, it's incredibly annoying, especially on our site where we have many forum threads with multiple pages.
My members are now learning how to set their account "Notifications" and how to "Follow" forum discussions... but now they get the email notification and ...ugh.
Please? ...can we get this fixed so it works right and the emailed link takes people to the NEW POST they are being notified about?
A sample complaint:

Ning To Jamroom

Wow, thanks for saying that. :)
It's wonderful that you are happily moving to Jamroom.

Just a few tips about ning payments- I suggest you call Ning's Billing dept RIGHT NOW and switch to a monthly payment plan. What will happen is this: your current yearly payment will continue to run until it's used up, and then if you run a little over your deadline the worst that would happen is that ning would only charge you for one more month...NOT for a whole 'nother year. Ning WILL NOT REFUND unused portions of a year payment plan once it's charged! So PLEASE protect yourself ahead of time by switching to a monthly plan NOW even if you don't intend to use it....just in case. You might need that extra month or two past your current yearly subscription.

Also...my ning payments get charged exactly on the 20th of every month. Be sure to CHECK if yours is the same, before you possibly get a nasty surprise of an entire new year charged.
And when you do cancel, don't leave it til the last couple of days. Others have done this and gotten charged because the change was 'working its way through the system'.
I will be canceling my nings on July 13th...a week ahead of when they would charge me for another month (on the 20th). When you go to cancel- be sure to not only create a support TICKET that is very clear about canceling, but PHONE them as well. Cover ALL your bases ahead of time, and save any communication you have with them. You'll know when you are canceled because your network will suddenly go POOF into thin air. lol!
Best of luck! :)
