Is it possible to automatically display all profiles in a gallery?

Using Jamroom

You're right, I should be able to do that.

[Bug?] Profile excludes

Using Jamroom

Ok, so I guess I'll try it and see what happens. Nothing should blow up, right? lol Thanks!

Ok so it works nicely! :)
Now when signed in as a regular member, I go to the site /profile page and "Forums" member is not showing. It does show if I am signed in as admin, as it's supposed to. It also still shows up (as expected) if one does a search for the name "Forums".
Thanks, this is cool! It was a bit annoying to see the "Forums" profile showing up in the member list, like they were another regular human member.

Is it possible to automatically display all profiles in a gallery?

Using Jamroom

My ning site members are always searching for other nearby members to contact and get together with to play music or find teachers etc. I think that if one is doing a search on the site's /profile page, it would be great to at least include Location in the search by default (country, city, state).
For example, on ning if I am in the member main page list, and I put simply "VA" in the search box, it displays 201 members who are located in VA (state of Virginia, US). Searching "Boston" pulls up members from Boston MA, the town of New Boston Texas, and member Bill Boston. If I search for "George", it displays all 23 members whose name includes George...and also members who live in a place with George in its title, like Lake George NY.
On ning the Location and member Name are the two search criteria by default...and that's VERY useful indeed right there without even adding further advanced search options.

Members on my site can often find each other based on their interests and their posted content- "fiddle" pops up in video searches, "jazz" pops up in forum or group searches, other stuff shows in the Timeline activities. BUT no one can easily look for each other based on location, so that's a biggie...for my site anyway.

Merchandise Store

Suggestions

I think he means combine virtualgoods/services with physical merchandise. Like you did with Combined video and combined audio modules.

[Bug?] Profile excludes

Using Jamroom

If I 'exclude' my profile of "Forums" that is a profile I own and that is used only for housing all my site's discussion forums...will that effect the ability for all my members to keep seeing and using the forums owned by that profile? Will it effect my site's forum function in any way?... Is this simply to remove the profile and avatar of the "Forums" member from appearing, say when you go to mysite/profile page for example?

Thanks for any clarifications in layman's terms. I'm still not quite sure exactly what "Lists" are for instance. :-*

Combined Video and Audio

Design and Skin Customization

Maybe I'm weird, but I actually like that aspect. My members tend to be a bit trigger happy when adding videos and music clips.... I like that now they have to do it with a little more forethought -from their profile pages, rather than adding media impulsively from the main page while browsing other people's stuff. That's just me though.

Add an image to Site Builder html box

Design and Skin Customization

Beginner question:
Is creating a new template really as simple as making a new notepad file, pasting the proper code in, and saving the file with a .tpl extension?
(Obviously the code has to be correct for the purpose intended)
If so, then are there specific "paste as..." and/or "save as..." choices I need to select when pasting code into the notepad file and saving it as a new template?
Thanks!

Slider of images

Design and Skin Customization

Curtis, that's way cool. When the dust settles from my migration, I
m going to add a rotating ad slider to my music site too, and it'll pay for my site beyond my usual member donations. Maybe you can help advise me a bit when the time comes...my needs would be waaaay simple. Thanks for the tip!

Changing Font Color / CSS

Design and Skin Customization

There is also a little "wrapper background" .png on the server in your skin Images folder that sets the color for a small area of your site background near the top of site pages. Ive found that even after setting css style colors through the ACP, that little background area stayed stubbornly its own color until I actually edited and replaced that .png to the proper color manually, right on my server via ftp (keeping the same file name, just over writing the file with my new one of the same name size and shape). Did I do that the right way, or is there an easier or more elegant method?

search for member by IP address?, Member .csv file?

Using Jamroom

When I look at "who's online" I can see people or entities listed by their IP addresses, and it shows what area of my site they are looking at even if they are not logged in.

How can I search my member list by IP address so I can match up IP to member, and see if that 'mystery' IP identity is actually one of my members trying to log in or reset their password for example?
I'm hoping that I can browse my members' IP addresses, as we can in Ning.

Again, being able to download a .csv of member data to my computer in a format that opens neatly in Excel would be incredibly valuable. I use it all the time for my current ning site. I was able to sort by name, by hometown, by birthday, etc....all that enabled me to pinpoint and remove duplicate members (even if they had signed up with two different user names) and thus clean up my membership roster in preparation for migrating to Jamroom. I'll really hate losing that once I'm off Ning.

Thanks!
