Converting ning urls to JR urls question...

Ning To Jamroom

I remember reading a couple of months ago somewhere here- about some function by which URLs within our imported Ning content can be converted from Ning urls to their new JR counterparts...so that members on our new JR site don't get taken to thousands of clicked-on dead ning links once we cancel our Ning networks. Am I remembering this correctly as being possible?

Is this something that gets done automatically when we import of Ning archive in order to go live to JR, or do we site owners have to perform specific actions to make it happen? Anything need to be done or installed beforehand regarding this particular function?
Also- Is this done AFTER the Ning archive is imported and in place, or Before? (Or maybe even during?)

Thanks for any enlightening. :)

Can't embed youtube using text editor

Perrie, do you have both modules installed and ENABLED:
Editor Embedded Media, and Editor Image Upload?
and have you checked the proper boxes under each of those modules' "quota config' TABS?

In "Latest Activity" what is automatically shown, and how can we control it?

Using Jamroom

"If "Recent Discussions" can be displayed for activity in a Group, why don't we see "Recent Forum Discussions" for activity in a Forum?"
"You do - it's called "Newest Posts".

Hmm, i'm confused. On my Profile pages, I have panels for my own Latest Group Discussions, and for Latest Activity (which doens't seem to show any of my Forum activities).
And am I supposed to have a PANEL for newest FORUM posts?

As it stands now, I am not able to see any of my posts to forums from my own profile page or for other member profile pages either.
On member profile pages, we can see that member's stuff and things they've added and done on the site....all except for if they add Forum discussions or post to Forum threads. ?

Thanks Micheal, all good info!
Good to know I'm mostly safe by using the gmail address there. Also it's an address I can discard and change if it becomes problematic....not one of my 'precious' email addresses I need to protect a whole lot.

Private Notes dropdown help wording

Suggestions

As admin, I set that all admins are able to send private notes to everyone, not to only their followers.
But when i go to compose a note, the dropdown menu help under the recipient's name says:

Select the user you would like to send this Private Message to.
NOTE: You can only send a Private Note to site admins and followers.

...might be confusing for moderators etc.
Also, if I later set all members to be able to send notes to all members, that message will still be worded that way...?

thank you...!

Changing what shows in the Groups Tab on profile pages

Ning To Jamroom

So, we have now gotten a drop down link to show what groups we ourselves are members of.
Am I to understand that we likely won't be able to get any further and be able to see the groups that OTHER members are members of?

OK, but I don't have 'custom' modules...only a custom skin.

After updating, I have jrGroupDiscuss/item_detail.tpl (1.0.10)... and I DO see the new change in it ({ jrProfile_disable_header }, near top)...but I can only 'compare' it to older versions before the update. Not sure what I'm supposed to be DOING there? Or is it fine after I see the code update there in the module and I just leave it all now updated and good to go except for my skin compares?
I AM seeing the updated code in my updated modules templates...so I supposed to actually "DO" something aside from just updating the modules such as jrGroupDiscuss in my ACP? Am I supposed to do something from my SERVER side?

I DO know how to go through the updated ningja skin and move changes into my custom skin....so I'll be doing that. But not clear on what I;'m supposed to do inside the module templates (if anything) aside from simply updating the modules from the ACP.
