Edit Comments Button

Suggestions

Great, thank you! :)

One last thing- is there a way the admin can set a global time limit for a regular member being able to edit their own comments or posts? Sometimes problematic members will post something that gets responses and then go back and edit or change what they said- leaving others to look foolish or scratch their heads. Like 15 minutes or something, after which the edit button for users disappears? (but admins would continue being able to edit any comment) I see this a lot on sites, and it seems to be a longstanding accepted practice.

jrEvent

Off Topic

I got rid of the little 23 icon in my main page Events module block- I wanted to leave more room for the various events' titles. I find the calendar icon to be distracting and taking up valuable space. I did leave the 23 on each particular event's own page though, so clicking to the event still offers the calendar button when you are on the Event's individual page.

I would think in trying to do what you are asking, even if it were possible, one would need to include month, day, and year...too much to stuff into an icon anyway. That's why it's an ICON- a quick button to click to the calendar where all that info is found.

In Ning, you get instead a whole line of hotlink TEXT under the event title, giving the full date etc. I'll be happy to not see all that visual clutter on the main page anymore.

Text box for html

Ning To Jamroom

You can also (without using Site Builder) create additional 'admin blogs' similar to your main "About" admin blog. These can be titled and moved to different areas of your page. If you have the two free 'Editor' modules installed, you can embed whatever you like into the textbox of that blog, including source code. These blogs don't need to look bloglike- they can just be blocks of info and media.

User Privacy Settings Don't Seem to Have Right Descriptions

Using Jamroom

I tend to agree with Dave on that. It's kind of like having to turn off your electric fence so that somebody can just quietly leave an invitation in your mailbox.

User Privacy Settings Don't Seem to Have Right Descriptions

Using Jamroom

Thanks, good to know! My site isn't really a hidden-member kind of place, so I'll need to keep these options in mind if I see problematic issues resulting from 'cloaked' members.

User Privacy Settings Don't Seem to Have Right Descriptions

Using Jamroom

Just a hypothetical question here-

What if I want to have a site where there are no 'hidden' members? What if I want it to be simply that if you want to be a member, you agree to be seen as a member of the site, and the whole site is INTENDED to be public and not intended for sensitive personal stuff or people hiding their memberships? I guess that is just not possible with Jamroom?

Upcoming Hosting Maintenance - server reboots required

Jamroom Hosting

What should we expect if we try to connect to our sites during the reboot time?
Is there anything we will have to DO, or will our sites simply be inaccessible for that short time?

Profile Questions

Ning To Jamroom

paul:
It would probably be best to continue the sequence with the new questions and make the old ones in-active in the Form Designer. That way you'll have old questions and answers archived.
hth

That makes sense.
So....assuming the older members wouldn't need to (or be asked to) answer any NEW sign-up questions at all, what would then show on the profile page sidebars of the older members imported from ning once I make the old questions inactive? Would their older ning questions and answers disappear and leave nothing in their place on their sidebar?
