I only included the ning info to perhaps provide clues as to the differences happening with the files and file names- same exact image, but two different sites. Maybe the images all got renamed (or numbers assigned instead of their former file names?) during import?

Sorry i have company arriving any minute and staying for a couple hours, so will have to get back to this verification you wanted, later....

For example, if i go to a photo in the gallery of me on snowshoes. The top tab of my browser includes the phto name: "8047-LisaSnowshoefoot...". Plus, there are member comments on the photo that include the word "snowshoes"
But the URL window only says: http://(mysite).com/strumelia/gallery/7715/#gallery_img
And when I do a gallery search for snowshoe or snowshoes, nothing comes up.

Yet on my Ning site, I do a search within the photo section for "snowshoe" and I get this:
http://mountaindulcimer.ning.com/photo/photo/search?q=snowshoe
and the URL window shows: http://mountaindulcimer.ning.com/photo/snowshoeing-2007

Sorry to repeat myself, but- I am still not seeing any change in the Image Gallery search function. (did cache and integrity check several times since yesterday) It's still running searches based on the member name, not the photo titles or tags. I get a million results when punching in "John"- photos from every member with John in their name. But ZERO results if I punch in something like "banjo" or "fretboard" or "bridge".
Again, -is this possibly because I still have not yet yesterday's Ningja skin update?
I have to get my cloning issue resolved before I move forward or update Ningja skin.
Thanks!

My Developer Tools skin cloner is not working right

Here is the clone that isn't actually a clone:

My Developer Tools skin cloner is not working right

Ning To Jamroom

Ok, I will now test again:
I go to my site on JR end. My customized Ningja skin is the active one. First I delete all previous attempted clones and save changes. Then I clear all caches, do integrity check.
Then go to Developer Tools (which I reloaded yesterday successfully, as per your instructions), to Clone Skin. I select Ningja skin, then name a new clone mdLisa1. It then says "The mdLisa1 skin has been cloned from the jrNingja skin".

I then go to my SKINS tab, I see "Lisa1" in the list, select it and set as active skin, and save changes.
I just now did all this again, and I do not get a real clone, I'm losing all my customizations I did in my Ningja skin.
See the two results: the one with my logo and blue header and customized links and module titles is thhe Ningja modified skin. The one with the JR logo and back to original non-modified Ningja settings is the Cloned Lisa1 skin.
The cloning is not 'really' cloning for me!
Thus, I still cannot update to the new version of Ningja skin, becasue I will lose all the mods I have struggled to make over the past couple weeks.
Correction: the correct logo is now appearing, but the top links are wrongly named and the forums link is gone, and the module title changes were lost and the top link strip is black again.
I know this stuff may not seem like a lot to lose, but I think it's important that people be able to really get a clone that is a true clone, or else there will be a whole lot of upset people every time there is a skin update.
Thanks!
P.S. I will not be around all the time today, just off and on.

Here is my customized Ningja skin I am wanting to clone. Notice the top links, the link names, positions, the Forums link. and the module titles, the blue strip at top.

I applied the updates for the search and gallery modules- updated all except today's Ningja skin update, because see here:
https://www.jamroom.net/ning-to-jamroom/forum/new_posts/19307/my-developer-tools-skin-cloner-is-not-working-right#last
(Afraid to over ride my ningja modifications until I can make a true clone without losing all my skin customizations.)

My Developer Tools skin cloner is not working right

Ning To Jamroom

Now I have a Ningja skin update waiting to be installed....but I'm afraid I will lose my current Ningja skin modifications if I update over it.
Any cloned skins I was making lost all my modifications.
What should I do?
(-I just now updated all the other module updates already, all excpet the Ningja skin one.)

forum catagory list topic counts incorect

Ning To Jamroom

soaringeagle:
these arent on the main page they arein the forum list when view categories is set

I didn't say it was on the main page:
"I do not have this issue in Ningja, mine are all showing their topic numbers accurately in the forum categories list."

I'm saying I don't have the same problem you are having in the forum category list- mine are all showing the correct number of topics within each category.
I'm only posting this info in case it might help the JR team narrow things down- them knowing that you have the issue but that it's not happening in my site.

Search Gallery

Using Jamroom

My Gallery search only finds images and galleries by the member's profile name who posted the pic. I would rather the image search found individual images based on the image title or tag...which it does not do at all right now.

For example: if I punch in "david" to the gallery search, it will pull up all photos posted by any member whose first or last name is David, plus any member named Davidson- this could be hundreds of photos that are not actually related to each other or to a subject.

What I would prefer and would be more useful, is to be able to do an overall gallery search for "banjo" for instance, and it would pull up all images with the word banjo in the photo Title or tag- from any members. Right now I punch in "banjo" and the search returns nothing. So, members typically looking for images of banjos, or soundholes, or fretboards...would just be out of luck.

I think this is what Blindmime is describing as well.

My Developer Tools skin cloner is not working right

Ning To Jamroom

Ok, thanks Michael fixing this naming bug will help folks in the future from pulling their hair out. :)

HOWEVER- Even with the new naming method, I still am not getting a cloned skin that has the modifications I had built into the parent skin.
So... my original problem is still there- I can now make and name a new clone and it functions (with a style sheet)- but it doesn't have the mods i put into my customized ningja skin. Thus, it's NOT really a 'clone' and I still won't be able to update my current (modified) Ningja skin until i can make a real clone of it that retains my customizations that I've spent many hours working out over the past couple of weeks.

So, what next?
