questions about the "profile to import forums into"

Ning To Jamroom

yes i am using the profile i created and named "forums" only for the forum. (note there is no conflict because I on purpose I named the profile forums (with an s), while the actual forum is without the s.

questions about the "profile to import forums into"

Ning To Jamroom

Ah, I found my answer. I needed to go to my:
skins> global configs> site index. There's a box to type in the forum's URL you want. (NOT the profile ID#, into which I imported the discussions archive)
Now it works right.

Looks like I found it at the same time you were typing.

questions about the "profile to import forums into"

Ning To Jamroom

Nope, none of that applies.

I now have my discussion forum freshly re-imported imported into my new profile which is named "Forums". So my forums can now be found at:
(my site name).com/forums/forum
However, as I said, when I click on my "Discussions" link on the nav bar across the top of my site, it still takes me to (mysite).com.strumelia/forum and of course that's no good.
I do NOT need to re-import or change where the forums are imported to- it'[s all been done and is fine.
I merely need to change where the navigation bar LINK POINTS TO (simple), but I can't find where to do that.

So, my question still stands.

questions about the "profile to import forums into"

Ning To Jamroom

I have an additional little question about this as well, if I may...

I created a new profile (with me as 'owner') and called it "Forums".
I re-imported all forum discussions from my ning archive pointing into it, and the forums seem to now be there ok.
But I have a navigation link along the top of my site for "Discussions" which still points to the old location. For the life of me I can't seem to find where exactly to change where that link points to....?
In the header_menu_desktop.tpl under Ningja skin, I have the following, but not seeing how I can change the URL the top menu link points people to?:
code.jpg code.jpg - 16KB

Problems importing members

Ning To Jamroom

Am I correct in thinking he will need also the JR "Images Galleries" module in order to import and preserve the ning members' photos and photo albums? Or do the member photos all get imported fine without that added module? (it's not in the Ning Bundle)

Question as to order of Groups on group page

Ning To Jamroom

Ah, thank you! I will save this info and I'll probably wind up listing them by the most members as that has always made more sense for me and my members. That'll be great!

When you say it will be in the 'next release'- do you mean the next Core update, or do you mean the next update of a groups module, or the ningja skin- which new release would I be looking for to suggest to me that I could then use the member number sorting option? Merci beaucoup!

Question as to order of Groups on group page

Ning To Jamroom

A little question I have- when we go to the "Groups" main page- there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for the order in which the Groups are listed. I have about 60 groups/6 pages of them. Is there a way for us to have the groups listed in some sort of logical order- like most Active, or Most Members, or most Recent Activity? Just wondering.

===============================
(Paul said): "In the Ningja skin groups are ordered newest to oldest by default.
If you want to change that, edit the group module index.tpl in the ACP
Find the line
{jrCore_list module="jrGroup" order_by="_item_id numerical_desc" pagebreak=10 page=$_post.p pager=true}
and change the order_by option
order_by="group_title asc" for alphabetical listing
order_by="group_comment_count numerical_desc" for number of comments (highest first) etc "
=================================

@ Paul (or other JR team member)- can you tell me what the "etc etc" code snippets would be for the order_by options of:
Most Active, or Most Members, or most Recent Activity (meaning a recent forum post or a wall comment for example)
-are those sorting options possible? (instead of sorting by alphabetical for instance)? Thanks!

I'm not being insulting, I'm being honest, straightforward and polite in answering your question wanting to know WHY I don't understand you, but it seems not to matter.

suggestions for photo grid page

Ning To Jamroom

Oh, sorry, I guess I was thinking of the Profiles grid, not the Photos/Images grid. Yeah I like the way my photo page grid looks, with the hotlink member name underneath each image.

But I agree that a simple photo title would be more useful than a description for the photos grid. Most folks put short photo titles, and when they add descriptions, they are often long.
