Facebook style timeline of people you follow?

Suggestions

Peepo:
I see profiles have their own time lines. Is there not a way to combine all the status updates of people you follow into one main timeline a la Facebook?
Its this that really opens the social side of online communities.

This is how it works now. Let Profile1 follow Profile2. Let Profile2 create an activity. Profile2's activity will now show on Profile1's timeline.
The actually way this works in Jamroom is based on the Twitter model, not FB.

Updating Discussion and Timing out Comments

Using Jamroom

This is in the custom 'Discussion' module I developed for you. I'll add this feature in.

Where is/was your backup? Were you using our Backup module to save things to S3? The site may be restorable from that.
But you do need to keep on at Arvixe - Hopefully they have a recent backup and will be able to restore your site.

How do users upload audio?

Using Jamroom

Hi - Welcome to Jamroom.
To upload audio you will need to purchase, download and install the Audio module - https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/networkmarket/12/audio-support
This is easiest done by setting up the Marketplace module on your install - ACP=> Core=> Marketplace=> Tools=> Marketplace Systems. Click on the Modify button and enter your email and Marketplace ID. These are found in your profile here - https://www.jamroom.net/peepo - Update(gear wheel icon)=> Licenses
Once this is done you can install modules directly from your site via the Marketplace module - ACP=> Core=> Marketplace

From this and your other post its obvious you are new to Jamroom so I would recommend spending a bit of time reading the documentation and maybe checking out our free video course - https://www.udemy.com/start-your-own-online-community - Hopefully it'll help you understand how Jamroom works and you see how easy it is to use and set up.
Hope that helps

Updating Discussion and Timing out Comments

Using Jamroom

Quote: I still need for me and my moderators to be able to modify comments, so that we can remove offensive parts of comments. But I don't want my members to be able to do that, or change their own comments after 10 min.
That can still be done in the template. The above test can also include quota checks to let admins and moderators through. I'll take a look at your site and try to implement it for you.

Allowing members into groups

Using Jamroom

perrie:
I'd love to do that, Paul. I am in the middle of beta testing and it would be the perfect time to do that!

Have installed this module on your site. Its in the ACP=>Users section. You'll need to enable it per quota, users will then see the Invite tool in the drop-down on their user name. Let me know how you get on with it.

Even their 'under construction' page has broken images so I guess something is wrong their end.
Demand that they restore your site from a recent backup.

Allowing members into groups

Using Jamroom

Let me take a look again at the Invite module to see what it does and whether it might do what you want. It was complete iirc but was put on the shelf because of its potential as a spamming tool. Perrie, maybe we can check it out on your test site?

Updating Discussion and Timing out Comments

Using Jamroom

These are Group Discussions you are talking about?
Currently, any group member can create a discussion but only the group owner can update or delete it. Maybe the discussion creator should be able to update/delete it only if there have been no subsequent comments?
Comments can be updated/deleted at any time by the creator. If you want to disable that feature it can be done in the template(s) -

{if $item._created + 600 >= $smarty.now}
    {* Comment was made less than 10 minutes ago so show the update/delete buttons *}
{/if}

Allowing members into groups

Using Jamroom

Invite is a module that we started developing some time ago but was never completed or released as it would have been an open invitation to users to spam each other. Users can message their followers. Allowing users to message all other users will be abused.
