multiple odd forum issues

Ning To Jamroom

The activity feed would only show the admin writing on his own main home profile. If the admin user adds something like a video to a profile that is not his home profile and the "add to timeline" is checked, it wont show up becuase the admin is not that user. The admin cant write on someone elses timeline on their behalf.

Could that be related to what your seeing. Seams wrong, but im not understanding how to see what your seeing.

Better to keep one thread to one topic. Put the "while were at it" into the 'suggestions' thread clay. Its not related to forum watching stuff. Im not good at multi tasking :)

--edit--
So if there was a button on each of the forum categories to watch it. when a user clicks that does that mean that:
* each of the threads in that category all automatically get set to 'watching'

or does it just mean
* when clicked on any new threads get set to 'watching'

or does it mean
* when clicked on and set to watching any new thread that gets started in that category sends out a notification to people watching, but the thread itself is not watched. (meaning that they get 1 notification of the new thread, but not a notification of any replies to that thread.)

Adding Items to the Marketplace

Jamroom Developers

If you have something ready that you want us to check out, send us a note to support at jamroom dot net.

Really just want to check it out to see what its doing and to see that the code doesn't introduce vulnerabilities to the system. Also offer some suggestions on how to handle stuff if we see them.

So far I've seen some alterations that should have been done a different way and the developer just needed to be shown that way existed.

For stuff that you dont want to appear in the marketplace, first thought is dont upload it to the marketplace. You can make it private or just in a beta or private channel if that suits though.

The way the system works is you use the developer module wherever your module is installed at to package it as a .zip file. that part adds all the licenses in to the package. Then you upload it to your profile on jamroom.net. If its marked as stable and is active, people can then see it in their marketplace on their installs.

As for the issue tracker, we tend to do most of the issues as private issues. Its real busy in the issue tracker, but mostly just Brian, Doug, Paul and myself chatting about stuff.

Admin Radio JR5

Suggestions

Moved the topic to the 'suggestions' forum.

I'm sure your aware, JR3 and JR4 were both just for music, so there were more music specific features. With JR5 things needed to change because there is not enough demand for 'just music' communities to sustain development.

zip the file you are trying to upload to here and I'll see if it uploads to my server.

thechocolatelife:....I do mean subscribing to a Forum category....They want to be notified when a new post is added or an existing post is updated. They don't want to manually subscribe, and they don't want to visit if there's nothing new....

So the same as above, but for forum categories. Gotcha.

Strumelia:...we could subscribe to a whole Group without having to 'follow' individual discussions within a group...which my members do miss now....

That seams like a good feature option. Like an auto-follow to any newly created discussions in the group. So users following the group would be alerted when there was a new discussion just started.

Admin Radio JR5

Suggestions

The answer is the same as last time you asked this question:
https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/forum/new_posts/31245/admin-radio/search_string=radio

Jamroom4 had more options for building a music community. JR5 shifted focus to building any kind of community.

So some functionality which was specific to music communities isn't there now. You can add it back in buy building modules to extend the system.

Adding Items to the Marketplace

Jamroom Developers

That all gets done in a single go. We just need to change your quota to a 3rd party developers quota and you get a bunch of extra stuff:

* documentation section to document how your module works
* blog for blogging about whats going on
* forum to answer user questions
* issue tracker to keep track of bugs 'n stuff.
* payments to track sales (if your modules are not free)

Mind if we check out your modules before release?

redundant notifications in Groups

Using Jamroom

Think I've got this fixed, just need the others to check it out. Its a real issue that needs fixing, just want to make sure the way its fixed is in line with how we want it to work.

Once its got the OK, it the marketplace will be updated.

Thanks for finding that bug. :)
