I think it's going to be a little while before thing really get going with the new JR. Times have changed since the early days of JR. Everyone wants to just install Wordpress, Joomla, or Droopy.

Once people really re-discover JR and understand how it's better then you'll be getting more people using and commenting.

I think it's going to be much easier for you to manage questions from one central location... the forum. The DOCs section would be the only section where I would say: turn off the comments.

Issue Tracker

Using Jamroom

I see that there is an issue tracker for JR. Is that available as a module for people's JR sites? I would love to see that as a module so that people using my site could report a bug, etc if they found one. I haven't installed JR yet, maybe this is already a feature, figured I would ask.

Toooo Weird!

Off Topic

I have to admit, it's really weird seeing the limited number of threads in the new forum. At the same time, it's kind of refreshing. There were a lot of threads in the old forum.

Sure, if you're going to moderate every comment there then having comments would be fine. Though, there are a lot of DOC pages to mod. I would just re-direct or have a link to the forum. The forum is where, I would think, you would want on-going discussions.

As you know, newbs are going to comment the crap out of that doc section. Especially when they're trying to learn something.

I was just looking at the Documentation section and I see for every feature / doc listed there's an ability to comment at the bottom. You might want to reconsider having comments turned on there. I can already see the first time developer creating 'pages' of comments trying to figure out a feature instead of using the forum for questions. I would turn those off and have a link to the support forum.

Just my 2 cents.

Recommended hosting

Jamroom Hosting

blindmime:
What host do you recommend? Niche site. Starting over with jr5 so not a lot of users or traffic at this point, but possibly a lot of space I'll be utilizing for content built up over the years.

I've been with my current host for many years, but my site has been down for two days as I write this and it was down for several days a couple weeks back. Support is hard to reach. They're highly recommended here and I'd really like to stay, but I'm finding it hard to deal with the 500 server errors and 5-minute page load times.

Check out WebHostingTalk.com it's a great resource for hosting providers.

brian:
Actually you can browse modules from the download section:

https://www.jamroom.net/download/modules/notmine

and that will show you ones you don't own (or it is supposed to).

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks!

Exactly what I was looking for.

Sent the email.

Thanks again for the help!

Sounds good.

Hey, are you still using the your old email "big" address I wanted to send you an email, I could get you a ton of JR users from one of my sites I run. Not looking to sell you anything, just an opportunity for you to explore.
