Pages imported from my ning site

12/27/14 12:43:32PM, by Strumelia

Simple question for anyone on the JR Team: I have not gotten around to this yet, and tried searching here for the answer, no luck, so please remind me again?: I know my "pages" got imported from my ning archive and they got parked someplace and I now want to assign each Page to its proper parent Group. Where the heck do I find those un-associated Pages again? d'oh. I need to put them where they belong and I can't remember where they were put by the Import Tool. Where do I go to do this...

Important questions about Ning "Groups"

11/11/14 09:30:09AM, by brian

I've been discussing the Groups module with Paul, and I'm concerned that we may have gone about this in the wrong way. I know several of you have already imported and are working on your sites, but I think now is the time to change things if needed to ensure we have a solid foundation going forward. Part of the issue I believe is a misunderstanding (on our end) about the "groups" function in Ning. I think I have a better understanding of it now, but I want to post what I think our Ning...

Ning to Jamroom migration and SEO

01/28/15 01:43:47AM, by jamesh

I am investigating the feasibility of shifting from Ning to Jamroom, in fact the Jamroom team are working on my import currently. So far so good, one major issue I must address is SEO, my 5 year established Ning site is very well indexed by the major search engines and that must continue for this migration to be successful. How do I go about ensuring that my search traffic remains intact following a migration of this nature? Have you migrated to Jamroom already? What would you do differently?

Latest Ning Import module released.

01/22/15 08:54:29AM, by paul

Ning Import module Version 1.1.14 is now in the Marketplace. As well as fixing a couple of bugs, this module has two new, and important features. 1) All Ning discussions not allocated to a group that have previously been imported to the Jamroom forum module can now optionally be imported as group discussions allocated to a specified group. Group discussions support threaded comments whereas the forum module does not. 2) The Delete Media tool, which is the final process of the Ning Import,...

Migration from Ning: a few questions

09/04/16 12:47:22PM, by Elise

As you may have heard, Ning is ejecting 2.0 customers by eliminating the Mini plan and doubling the hosting fees of the survivors. You might a flurry of refugees, like myself. I am debating between Social Engine and Jamroom and I have questions 1) Groups. My groups need to a place to talk about specific topics. Do you have a group feature that has their own forums? I searched for this but all I found was a VERY long thread about the lack of this feature lol. If not, I assume groups...

birthdate field from Ning backup

07/08/15 01:08:06AM, by White Agency

There is a birthdate field that comes across from Ning in the format yyyy-mm-dd If I set this field up using the form designer and set it to use the date type it doesn't pick up the date because it's in the wrong format. Could the import correct the format or the date type allow the yyyy-mm-dd format ?

Sending invite emails via Ning Import

01/24/15 02:48:59PM, by Clay Gordon

I have Mailgun set up. The email utility looks like it's sending out 10 messages four seconds or so. That's a long time until I get to 9000+ Also, encountered a Gateway timeout while sending. Only sent the first 750 according to the progress panel. I am going to have to crash out of this. What will happen?

02/23/15 11:05:47AM, by derrickhand300

I saw in a recent update that it's now safe to delete the Ning Archives in public_html\data\media\0\0\Ning_Archive I have been backing up my site on the desktop for a few days now and it is about finished- as soon as its done I would like to delete this folder as it will free up almost 40GB on my server Am I correct in understanding that it is safe to do this now? Thanks!
