Missing plugins when importing from Ning and a question about the Pages module
08/25/15 09:23:38AM, by hypnothoughts
Hi everyone! I been working on a custom skin for Jamroom and I'm now at stage where I can import the information from Ning. The process looks pretty straightforward but I had a few questions on the requirements. The "Import Ning Archive" page is telling me that I'm missing the following plugins: Video Support Soundcloud support Vimeo Support Discussion Form The Embedded Media Support I'm ok with the first three but I do have a profile forum module (Profile Forum) and the Embedded Media...
Locating Ning users who have logged in but are still in the default quota
02/07/15 03:07:36PM, by Clay Gordon
I am trying to move all of my members out of the default quota but I don't see an easy way to determine what quota members who have logged in (at some point) and what quota they belong to. Ideally I'd like to send them an email message and get them to move themselves but I would be happy to move them into another quota in bulk just to get them out of the default quota. In part, this will give me, at a glance, the number of members who have not claimed their account by looking at the count...
Ning transfer issue - Url of website and facebook causing an issue
11/10/15 03:30:54PM, by hypnoscott
I'm getting dozens of people who can't sign into their account until I go in and edit their profile to remove the URLs from their website and facebook profile link. Once I do that everything is fine. That's the info that came from the Ning import. I figure we can just remove that from all profiles with one big bulk action, right?
Changes to Forum in Ning Import ... custom Site Forum group
01/22/15 10:22:35AM, by Clay Gordon
After reading the changelog before updating, I am thinking about the implications here as I have created some new Forum categories with posts inside them, and there are some new comments that have been posted since going live. Right now, everything is imported into my membername: http://somedomain.tld/my_name/forum The idea would be to change that to, e.g., http://somedomain.tld/public/forum If I do the reimport of just the forums does this delete everything that's been added over the...
About the Update Base URL tool (inside the Ning Import module)
11/21/16 06:20:09AM, by researchcooperative
The only description I can find for the Update Base URL tool is: "This function changes the base url for imported text strings that reference files in the Ning Archive. Use this tool if you have moved your imported Ning site to a new domain or a new folder." This describes my situation, but I would be grateful for more specific information on how exactly the tool works with existing URLs that need to be updated. My impression is that it works well when we need to replace a simple URL such...

From Ning to Jamroom: an account in Jamroom... and now...?
09/01/16 06:17:19AM, by hispavox
Hello, I want to move my page from Ning to Jamroom. I created an account in Jamroom (hosted 7 trial days). What do I have to do now? I'm confused: - I need 5 Gig Ning Site? https://www.jamroom.net/ning-to-jamroom/serviceshop - Or I need Ningla skin, or import Ning, etc? https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/bundle/18/ning-to-jamroom - Or other things? Another question: There is a Spanish version for Jamroom? Thank you for your help Fran

User/account form vs Ning profile form
10/14/16 08:11:14AM, by researchcooperative
User/account form - this appears to be the JR version of a profile form where users can add information about themselves after setting up their account and logging in. Is this correct? Does the default JR user/account form replace the old profile form that members are familiar with? Where is the data from the Ning profile form? How can it be displayed?

The link to https://www.jamroom.net/ning-to-jamroom/documentation/ning2jamroom says "file not found." thought I'd see how far I could get. thanks!
Using the old Ning profile data, and adding backup contact-address field in the...
10/16/16 12:04:26AM, by researchcooperative
Today I could at last understand how to visualise the retrieved Ning profile data, by creating matching fields in the user-account form. In the process, I created a new user-account field called "Backup contact method for use by Admin (optional)". This can be seen by Admin and the user, but will not be on the public profile page or user signup form. For the Ning profile data that I wish members to be able to revisit and update, as private account data, I set the Display instruction to...

Converting ning urls to JR urls question...
03/29/15 11:54:29AM, by Strumelia
I remember reading a couple of months ago somewhere here- about some function by which URLs within our imported Ning content can be converted from Ning urls to their new JR counterparts...so that members on our new JR site don't get taken to thousands of clicked-on dead ning links once we cancel our Ning networks. Am I remembering this correctly as being possible? Is this something that gets done automatically when we import of Ning archive in order to go live to JR, or do we site owners...
