  • What it does

    Spam Blocker (module jrAkismet) helps keep spam off your site in two ways:

    • New user probation: for a time after they sign up, members' posts are checked more strictly. HTML can be stripped, and links to other sites can be removed or reported.
    • Akismet: text posted by members is checked by the Akismet spam service. Spam is set inactive for review, and admins are notified.

    ACP > Modules > Tools > Spam Blocker

  • Setting it up

    1. Choose a New User Probation period, and what to do with probation users' HTML and links.
    2. For Akismet, get an API key at akismet.com, enter it, and check Akismet API Enabled.
    3. In Quota Config, check Spam Check Entries for the quotas whose posts Akismet should check.

  • Global Config

    General Settings

    Setting What it does
    New User Probation How long new members are on probation: 6 hours to 28 days (default: disabled)
    Strip All HTML Removes all HTML from posts by members on probation (default: on)
    Offsite URL Action What to do when a member on probation posts a link to another site: nothing, notify admins, or set their profile inactive and notify admins. The link is removed in both of the last two.

    Akismet API Enabled Checks posts with Akismet (default: off)
    Akismet API Key Your Akismet key

  • Quota Config

    Setting What it does
    Spam Check Entries Checks this quota's posts with Akismet
