Twilio Messaging

Applies to: Jamroom 7.0+ Last verified: 2026-10-24
  • What it does

Twilio Messaging sends text messages (SMS) through Twilio:

    • Members can get their notifications by text message, instead of or as well as by email.
    • Admins can send a text message to the members of chosen quotas.

ACP > Modules > Communication > Twilio Messaging

  • Setting it up

    1. Create a Twilio account and buy a phone number that can send SMS.
    2. In Global Config, enter your Account SID, Auth Token and Twilio Phone Number. Write the number with + and the country code, for example +16045551212.
    3. Check Enable Number Field. This adds an SMS Phone Number field to Account Settings, where members enter their number.
    4. In Quota Config, check Text Messages Enabled for the quotas that may get text messages.

Members of those quotas can now choose Send Text Message or Send Text Message and Email for each notification in their Notifications settings.

  • Sending a message

Tools > Create Message: write the Message, choose the Recipient Quotas, and pick an Action: send it now, save it as a draft, or save it as a template. Only members who entered a phone number get it.

Tools > Log Browser lists the messages that were sent.

  • For developers

Replies sent to your Twilio number can be passed to your site: point the number's messaging webhook at yoursite.com/twilio/webhook. The module fires the incoming_message event, which other modules can listen for. On its own it does nothing with replies.
